Hi guys Considering a senna in black. Roughly about 5k miles and is on eBay. Seems pretty cheap considering the mileage 20k is the price they want. anything I should be looking out for at all? Not too clued up on these bikes myself but love the 916! Thanks all
Mine came with stand, termi cans and chip. Apart from the trinkets, paint job, a few carbon bits and an ohlins shock, there's little special about them so 20k is a lot unless its exactly what you want. (Think mine was 16k new when I bought it).
Happy to be shown wrong but I’m pretty sure the bike you are looking at is a Senna 3 not a Senna 2. If you search this forum, there is a fair bit of info about the model. IMO, the collectors’ bike is the first Senna, the Senna 2 and 3 were just cynical marketing ploys to separate you from your cash after the unexpected success of the initial launch. Bottom line, Senna owned a Monster. As has been said, nothing special engine wise. £20k is a big ask, not seen a later one actually change hands for that. Andy
I shifted from a 748 sps to the Senna and was quite disappointed. Threw it back in against a Foggy Rep in quite a short timeframe.
You asked for information and opinions (something never lacking on this forum ) but despite the negativity, there’s no reason for you not to fulfil your ambition. Does it have to be a Senna or will any of the other 916 models do ? You can get a very tidy 916 for less if you are prepared to look and wait. Andy
Hi Andy, The info and opinions give me on here I will go by, I’d imagine most if not all the people on here have a better knowledge of these bikes than me I’m only looking at one to keep for possibly a year (it’s a bucket list item) I’ve wanted as a kid. So a low mileage 916, whether that be a senna, or a sps or any other model I’d be happy to look at - for the right price of course! thanks
That being the case, my advice is to look for a nice 916 which you are unlikely to lose money on, when you sell on. The sp, sps, foggy and senna market is fickle, volatile and vastly over valued in many cases. Good luck in your search Andy
"I’m only looking at one to keep for possibly a year..." I think you'll find after 12 months of ownership that your clean 916 is now a keeper.
It's a nice bike no question but yes the price is optimistic, to be worth near that money it needs to be totally original spec for me but in fairness there are only a few easily obtained parts needed and as the owner is not desparate then no resson why he should not hold out for what he wants, it"s a nice bike.
Nice or not, the post is in the wrong thread and it circumvents Forum rules about posting stuff for sale. @El Toro, @Ducbird. Andy
This would be a far better pit for your money. Don't know guy or bike, but it looks promising on his FB advert. Its up for 17k
