Hi guys I lost my baffle from my full Termignoni system a while ago but now the Mot is looming, plus it's loud and used for getting to work. Does anyone know where I can get one from, tried Brs tuning but they can't get one. Has anyone used anything else bar the standard one and is there any problems trying to get it to fit as the silencer is oval shaped. Bike is a 2010 mts1200 Cheers
Usual problem here is Termignoni have a binding agreement with Ducati. The clients of Ducati (us the paying public) cannot therefore get spare parts, nor can the likes of BRs, from Termignoni themselves. The only place you can deal with is the Ducati dealer and they seem unable or unwilling to supply anything other than a full system or complete end cans should you have a misshap like your own. I have recently contacted Ducati to explain that more and more of us are getting frustrated with this draconian policy of theirs requesting confirmation as to how we can obtain parts such as baffles, straps, springs etc etc. To date I have not had a response. Maybe more should contact them with the same question and force their hand? I hope I am wrong and someone will explain exactly how we can get spare parts for these expensive extras brought with our bikes!
You just need to find a (properly) bike-friendly MOT garage. I've always had loud exhausts on my bikes (perversely, I've not got one on the Multi yet) and have never had a problem. I've had an MOT station ask me if I've got the road legal can at home to which I've always answered yes, and they approve it. My wife's Monster which had a set of Termi's was properly loud (set off car alarms as she rode by them) but that always passed. The local place we have ours MOT'd at these days is a Custom/Harley specialist, so all of our bikes are quiet compared to what they normally see!! They don't noise test them to check the dB level either. When you call them, ask them if they are OK with loud exhausts. They'll tell you if they have a problem. So, find the right place and then don't worry!
Thanks for the replies I know of a couple of friendly places for the Mot but it is noisy. I tend to use it commuting to work and set off quite early and am getting tired of having to push it to the bottom of the street before starting it. Whilst i love the sound of a big V twin i don't think my neighbours do. Am also in the process of selling my old R1150rt so the Duc will be used even more. Would be nice of having the option of putting a baffle in when I wanted to be quite and taking it out when out for a play.
Just had a look at the kit breakdown and it appears the baffle is available...description is "sound proof cartridge" which is as close as to I can translate a baffle??? They are about £37
I think I may have some lying around. They stole the bike but didn't think to go indoors and get the baffles out of the drawer so who's the winner there!!!
The kit breakdowns are only available on the dealer system...there's no link I'm afraid. I can dig the part number out but that's about as far as it goes. There's no graphical display etc.
Part no is 96313408b I paid £35.93 about a year ago. Slightly different from the original but it fits and does the job. Speak to Pete at Hyside Ducati he sorted it for me 01708 763360.
Just a quick update and to confirm that Nelly was right. St Neots had it on order but couldn't get a delivery date, luckily they had a system in stock and and were good enough to let me have the one out of it. Just waiting to get it MOT'd but she is going up for sale due to lack of use and a need for some spare cash.
I use the same dealer as you and they've always been very good to me. Did you check with them to see if you needed the baffle? Im assuming that they supplied your bike and therefore know you so I would have expected them to give it the ticket without you needing to baffle up?
The pass or fail is the testers choice hope for a slightly deaf one or distract him. Most Ducati dealers have a tame test station if not done at the dealership. I have never had a problem with the last bike an S4RS with full race Termis fitted.
well, where is the marking on the full TI exhaust system, never seen one on mine in almost two years and washing / cleaning the bike myself all the time....
Nothingfaced I got the bike secondhand elsewhere but they are the best local dealer to me. Wanted the baffle as the neighbours are getting a bit tired of getting woken up at 6am every morning. Bike now Mot'd locally and after a good wash will go in the classifieds.
