Hi folks Just want to check - I’m looking at buying a Ducati comfort seat for my 2019 ms 1260, I’ve found one which says it’s for a 1200 Are they the same? Will it fit mine too? Thanks
They’re not the same. I have one for the 1260 that I don’t use (used once and the stock seat was better for me) if you’re interested.
Sorry I was just saying my son lives over there but that’s no help as I’m in the UK and I have the seat here.
Personally, I'd go find a vehicle upholsterer and get one tailor made for you. I did, it took some time sort it out (had 3 attempts to find the right shape for me), cost a little more, but its near perfect.
Ah I see! Wonder why they don’t say it fits both?! Thanks for the help Just finding the seat slope doesn’t help long trips!
The comfort seat sits you further back, based on my experience. I didn’t find the standard seat too bad, but the Touratech version is better.
The seats are the same fit across the MY15 and onward DVT models, 1200 and 1260. So effectively 2015 to 2021, this is just the regular 1200/1260 and the Pike Peak models. The seat covers are different but the seat-pan is the same so they are interchangeable. The Enduro has a completely different seat. The required Touratech seat was only, in reality, made for the 1200 DVT and discontinued shortly after the introduction of the 1260. However, old stock was available for a while and as it will fit both 1200 and 1260 is something of a good find these days. The Touratech seat isn't plush in terms of comfort but it's far more supportive and doesn't slope you into the tank. A significant improvement over the awful original IMHO. That had my ass smarting by the first fuel stop, especially with autoroute/motorway miles. Getting onto the bike for subsequent days whilst on tour had me wincing from the moment I clambered onboard and getting worse as the day progressed. Something of a scandal on a premium touring bike, maybe a sly intentional move by Ducati after-market dept. Buying both rider and passenger Touratech seats, second hand off here for the former and at a bargain price as old stock for the latter, was one of the best improvements I've made to my 1260. Day after day and no comfort issues, aside from one long motorway ride back from Scotland, practically all motorway from the borders to Cheltenham due to an ailing dog. This was only mildly uncomfortable for the last stint from Birmingham, with a decent break I'd probably have been fine but I had to get back as it was just a case of splash and dash all the way. This September myself and partner did Corsica and back, no issues for either of us in regard of seat comfort. Can't rate them highly enough TBH. Just don't expect your ass to sink into a soft doughy perch, give it some time and see for yourself. The later, non Touratech, Ducati branded comfort seats aren't as good. Ducati wanted the extra £££ they were paying to Touratech I fear and decided to cash in with an inferior product. If you can find the Touratech one/s then go for it.
Hi SteveE; would the seat fit a V2S? I find the stock seat really uncomfortable on longer rides! If it does I would be interested I'm not sure how to private message, so sorry for everyone to have to read this!
I thought the Touratech and Ducati Comfort seat were in actual fact, exactly the same thing. Happy to bow to another’s superior knowledge though.
