821 Seems Noisy?

  1. Hi,
Just taken ownership of a 2015 821 Monster Stripe, i'm finding that to me, the engine seems very clattery around the 2-3K rev range especially on overrun, this is comparing it to my 848 evo, now wether it's the lack of fairings around the engine or having no Termi's like my 848 I don't know?
Seems smooth at idle and if revved up and above 3K when being ridden its lovely.
Any owners share their thoughts before i start complaining to dealer! (unfortunately i didn't get to test ride before it was delivered and only have 848 for comparison) Apart from that. i'm loving the riding position and seat height and performance which is more user friendly in my opinion.
    Input needed. Cheers guys

  2. Hi, my 821 monster engine makes quite a bit of noise too..I ride with ear plugs so I don't hear it. I love everything else about the bike, with the possible exception of the clutch which is really grabby until its warmed up. DMC Stoke told me they all do it. I'd like to own a Ducati with no "foibles"..is there such a thing?
    Best wishes

  3. Ducati without foibles... never :D that's why we love them so much

  4. Thanks Bill,
That's put my mind at rest somewhat, it rides and performs well so I'll just get used to it now once the salts gone off the roads, roll on Spring.

  5. it might be specific to that bike/engine Viv initially, so hopefully owners of 821 coming forward (like Bill) is probably best to start with. :upyeah: My 1200 version sounds ok but has only done around 6k and partly drowned by exhaust noise. I can hear injector clatter on mine but it's normal.

How many miles has your bike done o.f.?

  6. Hi, My bike had only 1770 miles on when I bought it, its up to 2K miles now, took it to local Ducati dealer and they had a listen and said it was a bit noisy but nothing too unusual, perhaps quieten down as miles increase as its obviously been stood for long periods in its life , took precaution of changing oil and filter to correct grade it had 10-40 in(according to last service invoice) not 15-50 as specified in book, that made a slight difference , its mainly in the 2-3K rev range and on over run in that range that concerned me?? Like i said originally the lack of fairings around the engine compared to my 848 might be the difference?
