Before I decide to leave my 2001, full Öhlins 748R in yellow at MR on sale or return, if there is anyone on here interested in a “riding” bike, drop me a PM. It’s an honest bike, service history before I bought it isn’t brilliant but it’s been looked after by MR since. It’s not 100% original, 50mm Termignonis, Corse 'style' adjustable rear ride height rod, QR rear sprocket, K Tech fork springs, carbon under seat tray, BMC air box filters, 1098 side stand and the speedo cable has marked a fork leg (a previous owner tie wrapped the cable to the fork leg ) It's done a shade under 9000 miles. As most will remember, I dropped the engine out to use the frame and suspension for a track bike so it’s currently being reassembled with all the original parts that were removed and stored. MR should finish putting it back together before Christmas but I'll know in a week or so. The original bodywork is in very good condition although the Dzus 1/4 turn fasteners are old. Includes almost all the original parts, including 45mm aluminium exhaust and rear paddock stand. Difficult to price it not being a collector's ornament, the service history will always hold it back but it's a 748R and great fun to ride which is what it should be .... ridden. Talk to me Andy
This is what it looked like in 2017 (according to the meta data). Gold and red anodised tat has been removed. Andy
Let's hope it's sold to a private member on here and a not dealer/member from here for marking up the price.GLWS
This will be a lovely bike, I know we talked about it back in 2017 and I went a different way, so unless you want a road/track R1 2cr in exchange I'm out unfortunately
I'm surprised this has not been snapped up already, especially as it's very clean condition and MR are going through it for peace of mind.
Currently (or the last time I looked) there are 4 first generation Showa, 1 early second generation Öhlins and 2 final generation slab sided 748R’s in the market place, none of which look to be selling. Could be the time of year, could be the seller’s (possibly unrealistic) expectation, with a spread of asking prices from mid £8k to £13k. I have had a couple of enquiries but no offers (no offence taken). It’s a buyer’s market so when the bike is complete and correctly advertised in the Ducatis For Sale section, hopefully I can get a price that is good for me but fair to the buyer. There's still space in my dining room so it can sit at home until it becomes a seller's market if needs be Andy
Andy. I’m interested and I did try and message you but it would not let me for some reason? Ping me when/if ready to talk.
How odd. Not a problem, I’ll drop you a PM either later tonight or in the morning. Just off for a “Pie Night” at Sweeney Todds Andy
My advice is don't go alone, take a friend and hold their hand all night.................have you written a will yet.
