thanks for posting these settings, i weigh about the same and the bike is now set to them. its transformed the handling of the bike for me! its a litle firmer all round with less dive and so much more accurate and confidence inspiring. big thanks!
Glad to have helped. As you say, for me, it made the bike less "flighty", much more stable and much easier to turn and track through corners. I honestly think a lot of this is in getting the sag and front to rear balance right.
Update please.....if you can post the part numbers and specs of the replacement springs that would be cool
These settings are very interesting, or should I say curious......: Your SPORT settings are actually softer (less damped) that default. The only setting that has changed/increased is rear preload, which is why the front feels more planted. The default Solo Sport settings are : Front: Comp 6, Reb 11 Rear: Comp 9, Reb 11 Preload (rear) 6 TOURING is closeish to stock (but again a bit less damped) the biggest difference is rear preload again: The default settings for Solo Touring are: Front: Comp 21, Reb 11 Rear: Comp 16, Reb 21 Preload (rear) 6
I just went for a ride on a mixture of roads with the default 'solo touring' settings, except I set rear preload to '14' ( default is 6) and the bike handled very well indeed. It feels nicely planted, and turns easily, but is also very controlled down bumpy lanes. I will keep it like this. This setting is very similar to the default 'solo, touring, rider + luggage' setting (rear preload at 16).
I've had my clocks changed at 22,500 miles due to water issue so all DES settings are now default. Problem is now with Doris (no luggage) on the back she gets painfull jolts up her spine when going over small sharp ridges in tarmac. Didn't happen before clock change but didn't write down the old settings as I thought they were standard (i'm second owner). I have just read and re read manualu re DES settings and my brain hurts. Me 14 stone in bike kit, Doris 10 st in hers. Anyone got some numbers for rear pre load etc I can use as a start point? Ta very much.
