I don’t bother doing roadside fixes tbh, I carry a spare inner tube or even spares depending on the distance. Always use a pump don’t like to use the CO2 capsules, you may find those capsules you keep seeing have contained other gas that some of the ‘cool kids’ think cool. I did at one time carry self adhesive patches as they’re far less hassle than tube of glue repair patches. https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-maintenance/bike-puncture-repair/lezyne-smart-patch-kit-single-652911.html?cm_mmc=Google+PLA-_-Cycling>Bike+Maintenance>Bike+Puncture+Repair-_-Cycling>Bike+Maintenance>Bike+Puncture+Repair-_-652911&istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istFeedId=62b447cf-331e-4fec-a47a-9985ff72d404&istItemId=wrtralim&istBid=t&_$ja=tsid:|cid:17632965067|agid:|tid:|crid:|nw:x|rnd:4058667792323895167|dvc:c|adp:|mt:|loc:1006601&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtICdBhCLARIsALUBFcH5Niwax1ri2uSPVtXi19qpTZOFF-CaaADLIQ0wO0Rcl-t9pKShDHMaAvZGEALw_wcB
I take a spare tube and have an old skool pump - good enough to get me home. Has saved me on a couple of occasions. Of course, one already has a bright led front light that can be used as a light to see what’s going on.
Tubeless is my fix to punctures, not 100% infallible but not far off. I do carry kit to repair though (bacon fat, a tube and twine to stitch a tear) I've had loads of punctures mtb'ing and totally ignored them, pull out the thorn, put your finger over the hiss and let the sealant do it's magic. Or just spin the wheel. Most rims will convert these days. Even my roadie is tubeless.
I’m tubeless on both bikes, always carry a repair kit, spare tube, CO2 canisters and a mini pump. I’ve used my spare tubes on others bike’s more often than my own.
Today I commuted in and home for the first time in December. It was great and damp on the way in, bit sunny and warm coming home. 161 miles to go for my target of 3000 for 2022, might need to up my Zwift game as well as outdoor.
Popped up to Windsor this morning as quite mild. Nearly got taken out by an X5 near Egham, I did call out a few festive messages to the driver.
I want to go out for a run round the woods with the dogs but it’s pitch dark… how do you see where you’re going??
I reckon head torch would suit you best M, when i first started wearing one felt a bit of a 'nana but don't give a hoot now, and best solution as hands are free plus you can aim exactly where you need to. i have a Chinese light mounted on handlebars also, uses a single 18650 and you need two of these in headtorch ideally although it makes the unit a bit cumbersome, you don't need to faff around changing/charging regularly. This kind of thing:- (mine similar, a bit "budget" but reliable so far)
Cheers, I do have this type of kit but my dogs are blacker than bin bags and I like to eyeball them off the lead…. But they run about like loonies and I can’t see the buggers…
well I don't know you that well, but I can't see you adding a battery powered flashing light thing around their necks like many owners do, but this is by far the simplest solution innit.
they are crazy - I have a mate who we called "sparky" for a while (loves a bright torch) and he has similar gear. I like the idea but cannot justify the 50 to 100 quid tag at the mo, and would beat myself up if i lost or damaged one at that outlay.
I 'see' a lot of runners out with those on, along with fore and aft body lanterns, they look like something from bloody Starlight Express...
