I don't think any of the latter colonizing nations have much to be proud of. Spain Portugal France Great Britain Netherlands (isn't the PM on some woke BS apology tour?) To name a few.
Like all these things, did the good outweigh the bad? Infrastructure, medicine, democracy (of sorts), trade, skills… it is like a monty python sketch… like this current obsession with ‘cancelling’ the slave traders. Well, most were commodity traders, people were (and still are) a commodity, many investing much of their wealth into the communities they were part of or the communities that were affected. Got through the first 2 episodes, just...seems very well made but like you say its a bit too involving, for my attention span anyway.
No, English. Rule Britannia seems to only ever be associated with the English when negative. Same as any sport. It’s all jealousy of course: for such a small country we have a;ways achieved so much. So….keeping on thread….I’m watching the world implode up its own rectum
