One of many but had a real soft spot for my Brutale 800. It was a rare one too and by that I mean it was reliable while all around were eating their sprag clutches with alarming regularity.
Many moons ago when the old Darmah starter sprag clutch failed (again) I need some cross town wheels quick so bought a BMW R45. It was £450 if I remember right - a pound for each cc. Dog slow it was but it came with panniers for me weekly shop, started on the button and was built like Beemers used to be built. It never failed and in 18 months of ownership it managed to endear it self to me... Hector it was called. I've not had many previous bikes but I wish I still had this. I built it from boxes of bits in the late 80s but had to sell it after about a year as I was short of dosh :-( Not exactly a road burner but great fun.
Apologies if I have this wrong (I'm not too au fait with the old Brit stuff) but is that an A10? A mate of mine ran one of these for a couple of years and he always maintained it was one of the best bikes he'd ever run...
Hi Andy It is indeed an A10 and was a lovely bike. The brakes weren't quite up to scratch with modern traffic but a nice ride.
