what was your first car

  1. Mine was a Citroen CX Safari. The estate car back was big enough to fit two motorbikes in, and the load capacity was rated at 3/4 of a ton thanks to the power suspension. Fabulous car, best power steering ever. Also totally reliable while I owned it.

  2. My mate had a Fiat 126. Brilliant cars, most fun you could ever have in a car with only 600cc. You could make them drift by simply turning the steering wheel quickly from left to right, he became obsessed by drifting round every corner until one day he drifted to hard and rolled it!

  3. Now why doesn't that surprise me?.............

  4. Hmmm that looks familiar, wasn't it in Matlock on Saturday? lil mini 1.jpg lil mini 2.jpg

  5. I should have guessed you would have had a quirky Citroen

  6. Vauxhall Firenza Sport SL
    120 bhp
It went like fuck (well 0-60 in 8 seconds in the early 80's wasn't too shabby)

Another ' if only I'd kept it' car I see they're fetching good money now - meh

  7. Mine was a metallic brown Fiat 127 Super.

Slightly altered from standard with the following

    Webber twin port carbs
    Front spoiler
    Roof spoiler
    Recaro bucket seats
    Lancia Intergralie wheels

It looked great back in 1988.

I think there is only 1 left on the road now, i loved that car.

My old 325i sport back in 1992, I loved this car, I wanted a Golf GTI but believe it or not the BM cost half as much to insure because it was considered a family saloon by my insurance company!, still cost a mucking fortune to insure though!. 175 bhp, no traction control, rear wheel drive, light back end. Did have the odd moment of youthful exuberance in it where I found myself facing the wrong way after loosing it. In many ways this car was more exciting to drive than the M3 I have today!.

  9. I had a Hillman Avenger. Totalled it on my 2nd outing. Smashed through a wall of a pensioner back in 1984. Copper was moaning at me about the accident and asked why I crashed it into the pensioners garden. I replied that maybe I should have asked her permission first...

  10. Haha - I had a Hillman Avenger too - 1.3 in dark blue... I also totalled it over Christmas when I fell asleep at the wheel and wrapped it around a tree. Not high speed thankfully!

  11. Close but no cigar

  12. 1964 Mini Cooper, the just under 1100cc engined version, it was 3 weeks younger than me, although I didn't own it until 84/85. Went like stink, just wouldn't stop unless it broke down. Got frustrated with it & sold it for a little more than it owed me. Didn't realise what it was really worth, still bought a 7 year old Harvest Gold Marina 1.8 coupe with the profit!

  13. My first car was a 1972 Hillman Hunter 1725 GL in gold which at the time went like stink ! Wheel spun that all the time as you did when you were young. One night doing doughnuts and figures of eight in a car park in the snow plod pulled up and I thought I was going to get a rollicking, but no told to watch them do controlled skids in their SD1 instead !
After de icing it one morning on the way to work I climbed in and slid over, the wet carpet had turned into a sheet of ice !
That`s when cars use to leak of course
Great 1st car which brings back lots of happy memories !

  15. 1974 Hillman Avenger 1600 super. Put in a tuned Tiger engine and sorted out the suspension.

Most fun I have ever had on 4 wheels.......................excluding shagging of course :upyeah:

  16. 1959 Ford Anglia 105E. Grey. It was the dog's bollocks once I put the Carlos Fandango wheels and furry dashboard on:upyeah:

  17. ford Cortina mk2 1600E in black in 1982

  18. !958 Austin A40. It used to be a right old banger. Till the girlfriend slammed a concrete lampost out of the ground and rolled it down the bank. it was built like a tank, the only thing wrong was a broken headlight and a small crimp in the wing.
