  3. I have a cgr, great to ride. It's cross, gravel, road (as in the cgr name). It's an enjoyable thing to ride on the tarmac, obviously, it's no colnago or pinarello but it also doesn't come with the eye watering price too. I'm enjoying it to be honest

Serious off road is for my mtb 's but it rides nice enough for me on tarmac and light gravel.

I have to say though, I'm a mtb 'er that rides occasional tarmac than a roadie that occasionally goes off road.

Imo, you can't beat an mtb for off road, far better control.

One of my mountain bikes is carbon framed and I've been battering it for ten years now, it's had drivetrains, bearings galore, shock, chain stay (ally and it snapped on a drop).... The frame seems fine but helicopter tape does certainly help with protection.

As regards Ribble, i found them easy to deal with, bike ready earlier than stated and proved an happy purchase so far.

Not sure where you are but Ribble have demo days, might be worth an enquiry. There's quite a choice on their range of gravel and road. Not so much mtb, although their hardtail looks tidy.

  4. Personally I’d avoid CF for an off road bike, if you want longevity in a frame as has been posted since your post Titanium is the best material.

I’ve owned in the past Aluminium, Steel and CF I finally settled on Ti as the best material for me both as a road and off bike. Although I do on occasion ride a old steelie.

  5. I would have to agree, probably why I've never bought a graveler.

  6. That time of year....:)
Here's my Strava stats for 2022. Originally I hoped to match last year's (2k), however, as the weather was so good and work slow, the numbers just kept going up until the weather turned.
There's a few 100 not recorded as I don't Strava every short ride to the gym/mates/park/work/corner shop/dogging spot etc.
    Happy with that...
Here's to a sunny, healthy and safe new year:party:

  7. I’m very pleased with my Cervelo Aspero, SRAM Apex 1x, ridden 3,000 miles. In that time it’s needed a new chain and freehub bearings, it’s been mistreated and ridden in all conditions. There has been no issue with the SRAM mech, other than my previous road bike was Ultegra and the current Di2 so it takes a few minutes to use the gear changer properly when I swap over.

  9. 30 cold miles on my ribble today. No mtb, trails are bogs. Road was the better option. And, the weirdest sheep I've ever seen :D

  10. 2022 turned out to be utterly shite for me, only managed 3,283 miles (12,121 miles in 2020) never turned a pedal in December due to a case of CBA (can’t be arsed). Kicked myself up the arse over christmas and started my yearly January challenge yesterday. 31 days, 31 rides, I started doing this in 208 where I did a minimum of 1 mile for the day of the month then added 8 miles so 9 on the 1st of Jan 39 on the 31st. Now I’m doing a minimum of 1+13 so 14 on the 1st and 44 on the 31st. Thats an absolute minimum, I’m on 75 miles already.
Give it a go, its quite addictive.
