V4 New To Ducati - Some Advice Please?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Travis Bickle, Jan 7, 2023.

  1. Why don’t u loon at. Used 1260.I had a xr hoot of an engine. Test ride V4S & 1260 bought 1260 preferred the 17 front. The v4 was a lot more to buy and insure

  2. I can't justify my PP at all or even make sense of it, but I love it. Left sports behind for this and it does everything. Said it before and I'll say it again, I don't look at this bike and think 'I miss 215 bhp'.......... ever

  5. My eyes strayed from the straight and narrow for a short while but I think I'm set on the PP now!

    To summarise the shortlist:

BMW S1000XR (from Mexico) - very good bike

KTM 1290 Super Duke GT - different, but equally good

Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak (from the Harz Mountains of Germany) - when you ride it, you will know where that extra money went

Now there's nothing wrong with the first two

They're real, real, real good bikes

But the Pikes Peak, is a fucking madman!

  6. Get a pikes peak with the full exhaust system, and you’ll never think of those other two again!

  10. Have you considered a 1260 Grand Tour or Touring S model, PP
May be worth a look. Plenty of power, good-ish fuel consumption etc
    Plenty of after market exhausts

  11. Not really a fan of V-twins

Half the reason I'm put off by the KTMs

  12. Order placed?

  13. Not yet. See what happens with selling the MT-10.

    Auction finishes Saturday 6pm

Matey from Wales did say he'd hold the PP for me and agreed £24,500... but we'll see if he still has it when I come up with the readies! That's what I'm set on now anyway it's a 22reg and has most of the options I would have gone for anyway so seems the best value option for me.

  14. At least theres one similarity with the SP, the tank range.

  15. what's plan B if it doesn't sell on ebay? part ex for the one Hyside say they have ready to go??

  16. Something I don't think has been mentioned... the full Akra system for the PP comes with an up-map, so you could consider that a money saving as you probably wouldn't bother with an ECU flash if you had that.

My mate went from an MT10 (not SP) to a PP. He's not looked back, the PP has given him everything he ever wanted.

  17. It should sell. Although nobody has bid yet there's 25 watchers and I've had numerous offers of between £10k and £11k. Should get at least one bid of £10k for it. You never know with Ebay though I reckon less than a quarter of the vehicles I have ever auctioned on Ebay actually went to the original highest bidder. Fucking time wasters mostly. I have the money for the PP without the sale of the MT-10 but I wanted shot of the MT-10 before bringing another bike home otherwise she'll go spastic! Matey in Wales said he's not in a rush, he's selling up to move to South Africa but doesn't go until 5 months from now.

Wasn't really looking at the one in Hyside. Lagunas in Ashford are closer to me and they have one listed on AutoTrader although whether it's actually in stock or not I'm not sure. To be honest if the sale of the one in Wales falls through, the other second hand one for just under £29k would probably be the best option, especially if I could get it down to £28k or £28,500, as it already has the full exhaust not to mention other options I'd put on it anyway.

  18. my thoughts as well, cheaper bike and more engine fun with the v2. my first year with the 1260 2019 p/p and i am avareging 170 to a tank on fast A roads. lots of extras on the pikes peak . the best for me is quick shifter, lowered seat and cruise control for touring.

  19. Hilarious. Er, you do know what forum you’re on? You’re bold with that one I’ve got to give you that. :joy:

Have you actually had test rides on the V4s and the Pikes Peak? They’ve both got to be good bikes and if anything the PP is more loaded than the S. Everything is available as an aftermarket extra anyway.

One thing I can tell you is the Akrapovic full system completely transformed my Multistrada but fuck me…..
    It’s a twin!

If I bought a V4 I’d have to have an Akrapovic system on it too.

Come on in, the water’s warm.
