They are great bikes and I think all those who have commented here have experienced their true soul first hand.
If you live in London or commute into London then you need to worry about ULEZ costs for a carby Ducati which is unlikely to be exempt and not yet old enough to be exempt as a "historic" vehicle. Remember also there are plans for ULEZ zone to be extended from inside the north/south circular boundary to within M25. Having owned a 1992 750SS from new they are really great bikes and would highly recommend them, fast enough to be interesting for real road riding and (touch wood) mine has been more reliable than the Hondas I have owned
hello, thanks for the reply. I’ve already considered this. Fortunately there’s two options. 1. obtain the COC from Ducati, seems as though other members have had success doing this. 2. ULEZ testing at riverbank. Neil has done motorcycling a great service by buying the right equipment to test for ULEZ. My 86 FZR Sailed through, but this was likely due to the disgusting condition the carbs were in! Hopefully this bike on Sunday is a goer. would anyone care to suggest what would be a non offensive offer to kick off proceedings with? My instinct feels 1450 is comfortable to begin with.
Agree, start out max at £1200, he’ll say £1600, you’ll say £1400 and you’ll agree at £1500. Classic. Are you willing to walk away? It is winter so buyers advantage. Best of luck
I love my 1995 600ss, but it has only done (off to garage to check) 3,537 miles. It is a beautiful bike
Been viewing from the sidelines for a while, however, can confirm the 600SS is exempt. Thanks to the chaps on this forum, contacted Ducati last year as advised. For a bike that is 25 years old, Ducati tracked the build to Bologna and issued letter stating Nox 0.13. Sent copy via ULEZ, who certified the 600SS was exempt within 24 hours. Hope this helps.
Would that rule apply to the brunette with a great lower chassis but fried eggs on the top end. Biking is all about different manufacturers and engine configurations from all periods 4 me, but i do understand the power thing.
Worth an ask surely? a mate of mine got his 1200 bandit compliant with a catalyst welded in somewhere…anything is possible I suppose…
Only if Nitrogen oxides (NOx) of the 900SS measure less than 0.15g/km (the EURO3 standard for petrol engines). Would assume the SS and Superlight are the same. Sadly, the nearer we get to 2030, the higher the likelihood they will insist on motorcycles meeting EURO5 standard (petrol cars) or possibly higher (diesels, vans, lorries etc)
https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threa...n-ulez-ultra-low-emissions-zone-charge.69419/ Just found this old thread. I punched in the reg of my 1993 900SS and it doesn’t meet the requirements so I’d have to go and get it tested. Not sure I can be arsed for the amount of times I may or may not ride into Londonia.
Yeah, living in Greater London, had the same ULEZ website experience initially, then got the certificate. Now if only the sunshine will hurry up…
