  3. this news finally breaking, and it's about time - been checking for many months:-

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...ficer-david-carrick-revealed-as-serial-rapist

it's was almost as though "they" * were waiting for the Sarah Everard/ @*&$% Couzens case to get forgotten before they pushed ahead with this** - he even worked in a similar sector.

*insert whatever body of people you like here.

** i'm sure someone will be along soon to explain and even justify the delay.

**To try and keep a semblance of dignity for those serving officers who are trying to make a honest difference.

May as well have released this earlier as their reputation ain’t exactly great and hasn’t been for a long time.

  5. The delay is explained in the article.

He’d pleaded guilty to some of the offences, and presumably he was chancing his arm with a jury for the remainder of them. Guilty pleas to other counts on the same indictment are usually admissible, so the jury would be aware of them. However, there’s often a fair bit of horse trading between prosecution and defence counsel re: precisely what facts are being admitted, what will be said to the jury in pros counsel’s opening speech and by way of formal admissions later in the trial. Hence, the information in the public domain needed to be controlled and so reporting restrictions were ordered. The case ended on Monday when he pleaded guilty to the remaining counts, so the restrictions were lifted.

  7. "The delay is explained in the article."

yes, i read that of course, forgive me for including a further questioning of the credibility of this, the timing is not a fully done and dusted, black and white issue by far, I only wish i'd made notes on the adjournment "technicalities" that were announced since the 1st October 2021.

  9. My first thought when I saw the report in the paper today was, “I bet that guy on DFUK will get the ar5ehole with me about this case later.”

You’ve got a real bee in your bonnet about this, haven’t you? If you didn’t want to read my explanation and would have preferred to fume and seethe about “technicalities” instead, then perhaps you should have done your blood pressure a favour and ignored my post. :upyeah:

  10. no bee, no bonnet, Zhed, just confirming that any one on here is allowed to have an opinion, an opinion that doesn't necessarily get shut down with a patronising one-liner as included above - it really is that simple.

"My first thought when I saw the report in the paper today was, “I bet that guy on DFUK will get the ar5ehole with me about this case later.”

You just need to get your first post in earlier next time - the difference is, and I promise you this - I would have let your comments lie without replying to include any wise-cracking at someone else's earlier post. :upyeah:
