R1m

  1. Bloody hell they are pricey, new and used.

  2. Yep, stunning bikes

You looking at track or road?

  3. All new shaped r1 are expensive. When I was looking for a new track bike a couple of years ago, I was looking at r1’s and gixers. Bought a gsxr1000r with 800 miles on it . The equivalent r1 was about 2.5 to 3 grand more

  5. I'm about to sell my R1 (16k miles, FDSH), it's a 2015 standard model (although I've got loads of parts for it like blipper kit, rearsets, Ohlins TTX shock and full track bodywork).

I was panicking about prices, but looking around I think it will need to go up for about £11k ONO privately. You are right though prices are high for everything... I saw some clean late Daytona 675r's and dealers want £9k for them!!! ZX6R's, again some are £8500k....

  6. Everything always seems to be expensive when I'm buying and worthless when I'm selling................

  7. I was looking at R1M for my track bike but decided to track 1299 instead. Plus when I do change to a R1, it will be a base R1. Dont need electronic suspension on track.

  8. Is electro suspenders the only difference with the M?

  9. u get mag wheels too and carbon fanciness and ally tank. but the rest is same. you'll be junking the abs and the r1 calpiers and m/c too. so a base is more appropriate.

  10. all models have mag wheels (except the American only R1S which has an MT10 engine in it) they are cast mag though not forged mag, still nice and light

  11. No, carbon bodywork, gps telemetry and a trackday voucher when new

  12. The stock ABS is pretty scary on track, for 2018 I believe they removed the 'linked' aspect of the brakes, as mine is a 2015 and at the most random moments it applies rear brake and it doesn't help the nerves..

I went to normal lines, and it was much better, I didn't get any fade and had more confidence, but there is still a 'wooden' feeling which most attribute to the master cylinder, so I agree this is a worthwhile upgrade, tbh a Brembo RCS with the standard ABS on newer bikes might be okay.

The Electronic suspension I can't speak for but I have an R1M shock converted to manual adjusters in mine and it's MUCH better than the OEM shock. Pav in Cartagena rebuilt my forks and said the R1 forks are junk as standard, but honestly I think they feel about the same as any OEM fork, apart from maybe the fancy BPF jobbies on the GSXR, they are pretty nice. Ohlins in general is obv a step.

  13. Get a 1299 matey, mine stands me about 12k with full ttx ohlins and damper and the S lightweight wheels plus track kit. Not let me down once ;)

  14. I had a 2016 R1M, used it only on track for two years & sold it for £500 more than I paid for it!! It was an absolutely brilliant track bike!!

I had Brembo RCS M/C, GP4-RS calipers, Brembo HPK Supersport discs, Z04 pads & ABS delete.....brakes were awesome!!

I liked the electronic Ohlins on track, although many people don't.

Just waiting for my V4 to arrive as the R1M replacement.

  17. true story, although plenty of new s1000rr’s dropping their guts! When I was at bahnstormer the tech was saying he had 3 in there all blown up, reckoned it was as simple as 2 were running motul oil not the bmw oil. Even so, mad!

if you are going to use these bikes hard, at some point they will all have issues. Newer versions of the r1 for example are much stronger, but look at m1000rr, they fit them with 2 ring pistons and after 5k power they are burning loads of oil and loosing power… they don’t care because it’s been done like it for superstock

  18. Brilliant bikes, wish I’d never sold my R1M but it wasn’t a great road bike to be fair, too full on!

still run 2 2015/6 bikes on track and just put a new 2022 engine in the 15 bike using adaptor plates so I can run the 15 throttle bodies and electronics. Just had it mapped on Monday and really happy with the results ready for this season.
