New Lad!

  1. Hi everyone,

Completely new to Ducatis. I’ve recently bought myself a streetfighter 848 in black.

Not been out on it yet as I’m a massive fair weather rider but I’m looking forward to the first ride.

If anyone has got any helpful tips/advice on the day to day sort of maintenance, cleaning, quirks of ownership, things to look out for etc then I’d be grateful for anything you could share. I’m just trying to soak up as much as I can. I’m coming from a Honda so if some of the scare stories are to be believed it might be a bit of a change but time will tell I guess.

    Thanks

    Dan

  2. I loved my 848 SF. Congratulations

Belts are 5 years before replacement on the Streetfighter, you might find people advising 2 years based on the 848 which is incorrect.
Mine leaked some oil from the one of the head studs on the rear cylinder but I think that is very rare.
If you ever seen the Ducati Performance comfort seat for sale then you should buy it!
Hopefully it already has Radiator guards fitted, if not get some Evotech ones.
Oh, the petrol tanks are plastic and can swell with Ethanol. Make sure you use E5 where possible.

  3. Welcome Dan and enjoy the new bike. My only tip, is ACF50, a light coating will protect your bike against moisture build up and corrosion. You can apply to the whole bike but ensure you cover the brakes, discs, hand grips, foot pegs & obviously tyres.

  14. Presumably he was joking by the way... just in case that wasn't 110% obvious (!)

Lovely bike, I've always wanted one.

  15. I have met bikers who have sprayed their bikes with ACF50 without covering those areas, yep, brakes included. :D
