No harm arguing with them though to see if they feel bad and compensate you. I had £40k's worth of electronics stolen from a lorry last year, haulier didn't give a fuck and I spend a few 1000 quid with them every month, I had to claim from my insurers in the end.
Evri (or Hermes as it was back then) lost a set of Ohlins forks I sent to someone for overhaul. When I tried to claim through the insurance, they stated that the maximum claim for any parcel they dealt with was £300
I sent some back to demon tweets a week or so ago. Parcel force express 48. £9.95 ,insured up to 4.5 grand
In your shoes I'd call the cleaners again and agree a plan of action with a timescale. Fairly meaningless in itself, but you establish an agreed route to a solution. Then send them a recap of what was agreed in writing, sent recorded delivery. I expect they are insured for this type of thing one way or another... I'd also have a good look at your house contents policy as this could possibly cover you too. Obviously this problem is not your responsibility, and it should be resolved by the cleaners. But if they won't pay/ can't pay blah blah, perhaps you can get someone else to pay instead of your credit card?

Your contract is with the cleaners, not Evri. It doesn’t matter who or how they send to you it’s their responsibility to get them back to you. Keep tracking screenshots as proof. Write to cleaners stating replacement value of leathers and giving a date that if they don’t arrive you expect full recovery of costs within 5 days. Send it recorded delivery or get an email read receipt (sometimes difficult). Don’t threaten small claims court action yet but be very prepared to do so if no joy.
I don’t want to heat it up that far just yet I want to give him the opportunity to sort this out. Technically Evri have until Saturday I believe to come back to him on the status of the lost parcel.. after that, I’ll do as you say above thanks Penfold x
Evri lost a package of mine a few weeks ago so I was able to claim a refund for the goods after a week or so, which I got back. Evri finally delivered the parcel on Tuesday, weeks after I received my refund
When UPS lost my brand new carbon wheel from Thyssen Krupp I couldn’t sue UPS as the contract was between UPS & TK. I was invisible as far as they were concerned. UPS were beyond incompetent and sent it back to Germany after it had arrived in Dover and I’d paid £400 to customs. TK were going mental at UPS but they wouldn’t class it as lost until 2 weeks had passed!!
Mines technically been ‘lost’ now for over a month. There doesn’t seem to be anyway to effectively contact Evri either. Matey has opened a case with them a while back, and has heard nothing.
I can only assume EVRI has the stance that anyone still chasing them after say two months for non delivery gets a shipping charge refund plus £20, as per their TCs. There is definitely no way of contacting them except by opening a case on their tracking page. But if you would like I can send you their stock response to save you time. I've received the "oh dear we're sorry contact the sender yourself" identical message several times over the last couple of years...
Be a sensible boy and write to them setting out your position per my earlier post. Nothing to gain from delaying this further whatsoever.
Not exactly your situation, but similar... https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/somethings-gone-wrong-with-a-purchase/dry-cleaner/ "It might help to say that you’re aware that “traders have a responsibility of care under the Consumer Rights Act 2015”."
Its really frustrating, but on the three occasions my parcels went missing, the parcels did ultimately arrive within 8 weeks. I read that there is currently an MP looking into EVRI being in breach of the trades description act as they refuse to interact with customers. EVRI did a deal with major big volume online sellers to carry the parcels they normally sent via Royal Mail, because of the strikes. Add that to Black Friday sales & Xmas and the inevitable happened. Fingers crossed your leathers will show up in the next two weeks.
It may or may not show up. The sender is Evris customer, not Adam. Adam should not delay writing to the sender if for no other reason to put a stake in the ground.
I agree, see my post #25. My recent posts were in answer to Adams frustration with EVRI and not about the senders obligations.
