Maverick on 10 times more than his team mate has to be the big take here https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/1...ogp-riders-salaries-how-much-do-they-get-paid
Also Pol is getting 4 to 5 times that of his world championship contending brother. Just got to wonder if that Vinales figure is correct? (easy to put the decimal point in the wrong place)
Historically, Ducati haven’t valued their riders particularly highly so I wouldn’t hold your breath. Andy
Ducati stated both Jorge Martin & Enea Bastainini were on the exactly the same contract, also Aleix Espargaro wages just don't seem right, especially after his performance last year. I would also call into question Mavericks 10m after his escapade with Yamaha. I do wonder how accurate the source of this information is!
Heres the original source if your Italian is up to speed (Gazette dello Sport) MotoGP 2023 con più gare, i piloti battono cassa! Ma i più ricchi sono Messi e LeBron | Gazzetta.it
The Translation; THE EARNINGS — How much do pilots earn today? And how much did past champions earn? Sensitive matters. Figures to always take with a grain of salt because official information is not public and many are clauses and variable parts. Here we refer to 2022 because little is known about the amounts for 2023. Last season the highest paid remains Marc Marquez with a five-year contract valid until the end of 2024 for 12.5 million euros per season. Of the 5 million per season plus bonuses for the new reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia, who however is behind Vinales (10 million), Quartararo and Mir (6 million). Followed by Pol Espargaro (3.5), Miller, Rins, Morbidelli (3), Zarco (2), A. Marquez and Martin (1), Espargaro (750 thousand euros), Oliveira (625 thousand), Nakagami and Binder (500 thousand ), Bastianini (375 thousand obviously increased after the great results in 2022), Di Giannantonio (375 thousand), Marini (300 thousand), Binder, Bezzecchi, Fernandez, Gardner (250 thousand). Figures which, compared with the motorcycling champions of the past (before the Dorna era) seem extraordinary, but which, on the other hand, are considerably reduced when compared with the big names in other sports. This is surprising!
It must be really frustrating for any riding reading this or other sports columns regarding who gets what etc, but for me the monies irrelevant as you'd want the best package possible for winning that title, that's what your remember for once you retire, not what's in your bank account.
I think the majority sing from the same hymn sheet regarding wages, and no doubt it's not about my statement.
Maybe you're right... But then think about someone like Alonso in F1. He has switched teams for the money and not the glory many times. Perhaps the current crop of MotoGP drivers are different.
I wonder how the negotiations go: Me : I want €12 million please Team: we will only pay €10 million Me: ok
Here you go, https://www.motogp.com/en/sponsors. The Spanish sponsorship I think you are referring too is Repsol who are personal sponsors. I think today, the most sponsorship is from energy drinks makers. Andy
