And certainly not an R1. They look (if you can block catfish) and sound nice but not the fastest out there…
Also depends upon wanting to be the fastest. Im not particularly arsed about that. I just want to be better than i am. Which is quite a low bar.
It doesn’t matter. We’re all just aging fannies playing on our motorbikes (well I am). We’ve got more money than we did when we were 20. Not a bad thing, me on a 200hp bike at 20 wouldn’t have ended well…
Indeed, I fell off a mere 12hp often enough. 200hp in my 20's would have been measured on a quantum scale. I could ride to Yarmouth with a fiver in my pocket, get lashed up in the long bar all weekend and still have enough money for fuel. Altho, there's many a fizzy that lost all its fuel overnight...
The good old pre digital days. I was knocking a bird off that worked in a really busy bar. I’d go in there with a fiver and leave rat arsed 20 quid up. Every time I got a round I’d hand over a fiver and she’d give me change for a tenner. Marvellous
I heard one way they restrict it is by covering the air filter in a plastic gauze. Still does it’s job but it really cuts down airflow and I guess the fuelling is mapped accordingly.
Grim... I think I've actually just decided to keep my R1 and mothball it for this year (while saving up for a remap ahead of next year). The reason being I've spoken to 3-4 people regarding buying it and they are just idiots, dealing with people is just hard.. There are so many d*cks out there it gets frustrating.
mate that’s a closer offer than some of the absolute wayne-Kerr’s that have been messaging me, and it’s not really even advertised as such
If you don’t need the cash, definitely keep it. It’s a great bike and, as you say, dealing with people is just a ball ache.
I don't 'need' the cash, in terms of I'm not trying to get a mortgage etc, but it's more that I can't afford trackdays at the moment. That's a temporary thing though in reality, and the bike is absolutely class to ride on track, I don't think I can get a bike I feel more comfortable on, it's like a powerful 600 and steers so nice even on the throttle, with an engine thats like a v4 (as those who have ridden one know) so isn't manic and scary
Keep it man. You’ll definitely regret it if you sell it. I toyed with the idea of flogging mine recently due to lack of use. Mrs thought I was going mad, and told me so. Anyway, I’ve kept it and can’t wait for Jerez in March!!!
One of the time wasters was chatting to me about swapping it for a 959 and told me he rode an R1 in Almeria and it 'didn't handle' was 'slow to steer' and 'fat'.... I'm not sure what he rode tbh but not sure it was a 2cr
And people wonder why I’ve not gone all out advertising my Panigale V4 and the 748R. I was pretty intolerant as a young man, now I’m an old man, it’s at a whole new level Andy
