  1. Did you find out/have you got any idea what she ate?

  2. I don’t mate sorry , we had usual walks and food etc.. they jabbed her and I gave her those standard oral injections and she’s right as rain.

This is the fence the mental one ran into (it was darker at the time). So lucky it wasn’t barbed.

  3. Do you live near any pheasant shoots or areas where farmers have issues with badgers and/or foxes as they sometimes put poisoned meat out?

  4. 99% of foxes are taken out with a rifle. Pest controllers have access to almost military spec night sights. Poor Mr Fox has no chance these days. Hunters lay down bait (usually a tin of tuna or similar) but it’s not poisoned.

  5. Raptors and badgers are often targeted with poisoned meat and dogs can end up as collateral damage: https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news...n=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target

  6. There’s some right cvnts out there. There were a pair of stunning Eagle Owls on the moors just outside Catterick Garrison. Some squaddies from the camp were kind of looking after them. But some fucker got to them and killed them.

Quite a lot of badger sets where we walk ours…. And I’m 99% sure I’ve seen Pine Martens, that I suspect were inserted to rub out the greys and rabbits.

  7. It’s a sad side effect of the commercialisation of the countryside. T’was ever thus, I suppose, as rural types have always been pretty unsentimental when it comes to furry or feathered creatures that get in the way of their business interests.

I think @Red899 lives near me in Herts and red kites are as abundant as pigeons in certain parts of the county, so gamekeepers might see them as a threat to pheasants’ eggs and chicks.

  8. Funny you should say that, I was watching this beautiful little bugger at lunchtime today (apologies for the poor quality pic)
I swear he was circling my smallest dog at one point lol

  9. That happened with Iggy last summer too. We have a pair of red kites nesting in the trees at the edge of the village cricket ground and one evening while we were at nets, Iggy had wandered off doing his own thing and they were circling him. He’s only petite, so he might look like a big rabbit or hare to a bird of prey, although they’d probably have trouble carrying him off as he’s packed with muscle and so weighs a bloody ton (16kg). I imagine those talons and the beak would inflict some damage though, so I didn’t want to take any chances, and soon as I called him back over to where me, a dozen other humans and two dogs were gathered, the birds lost interest

  10. Red899 blocked me. Dunno why, can’t believe I’ve ever upset anyone on here

Red Kites. I dropped a bike off at RAF Benson a while back and I couldn’t believe the amount of Red Kites! I think RAF Benson’s in Oxfordshire? Might be wrong, doubt it though, I’m never wrong…

On business interests, the Eagle Owl munches mainly on rabbits. But of course Farmer Palmer will claim they take lambs. Which they might tbh. Like a bit of lamb myself :D

  11. Yep, they’ll have a go. We were in north west Skye this time last year and I was watching a Golden Eagle hanging on the breeze through the binoculars. It then occurred to me our two staffie pups were romping around the huge garden…. Shit! Get them in!!

  16. Red kites.
Benson is in Oxfordshire, correct. They also do occasional airfield trackdays there btw.
The first red kites to be released and established in England were about 10 miles from Benson (previously there was a small successful bunch in Wales). A place called Christmas Common, near Stokenchurch J5 M40. They have spread prolifically from there (late 90 iirc) down and up the m40. They were established by one of the famous Getty family. Red Kites are carrion feeders, rarely take live prey.
