Nope sorry it's called shilly-shallying from the rider infront, when i'm on my A game i don't want hesitation around me, as that causes accidents in my opinion.!
An oldie but a Goldie, however all those statements never come to fruition. Past performance indicates that it won’t.
The more people you involve, the slower you knock the miles off, EVERYTHING takes bloody ages, some people just faff on for ages, fags…, piss…., waterproofs…., gloves,..keys…etc Best tip I can give you is to make everyone fill up their tanks at the closest garage to your hotel for the night, so in the morning you just jump on the bikes and ride for a full tanks worth of miles before it all turns to rat-shit ! Stick to this procedure RIGIDLY, not negotiable and anyone who can’t be arsed to do it gets left behind in the morning,..good luck Also give everyone a good drilling about bike preparation, recently serviced, oil and filters check all consumables ( brake pads, chains and sprockets,..front one especially that people never look at ) notice I didn’t mention tyres in there?….that’s because we have learned from experience to fit a new set before any European trip, a few times we’ve had guys caught out because they thought their back tyre had another 3,000 miles in it and it would be okay….ffs …not much fun in the middle of nowhere trying to find a specific brand of tyre, in a specific size to match your front one? People also don’t realise that setting off with a half worn tyre also increases your risk of punctures greatly and those alpine road high passes are hellish abrasive and wear tyres really quickly, fit a new set and give yourselves the best chance of a trouble free trip
If you're on your so-called 'A-Game', then perhaps you should opt for being near, or at the front of the group. It seems to me that you haven't tuned into the riding abilities of others around you, so I agree with Andy. Your problem......IMO!
8 people in the group is a large number, however, the dynamics of the group will find its own level, in terms of riding capabilities and once determined, will sort the split out. As long as a few basic, but important 'rules' are set-out and agreed in advance, like re-fuelling the night before, being up at an agreed time for breakfast and a not later than start time too, then most things are likely to be able to be accommodated, within reason. Look forward to it and above all, ENJOY it!
Bollocks, what do you know about my riding skills, i normally stay at rear with groups because if i'm at the front i tend to ride off into the distance, i guess i'm really not a team player when all said and done.
I already know something about your mindset from your posts and from experience, I know how that mindset translates into behaviours on the road. Stick to what you enjoy ….. riding alone Andy
You’re either a really slick fast ridin no nonsense, shoots from the hip sort of a guy Or you’ve got a rather over active imagination A-Game, ffs
I would describe myself as pragmatic. I accept that others enjoy their riding differently to how I enjoy my riding. Just because they are wrong and I am right is happen stance Andy
Went to a small town on the outskirts of Strasbourg, felt peckish so stopped off at a Boulanger Got chatting to the owner and discovered that through marriage she is related to me!
The cheques in the post for the first wonderful comment, as for the second, i just like riding or driving at my own pace in life, what's wrong with that. Group therapy doesn't do it for me, nothing flash about that comment. Crack open a beer and relax as it's a friday night chaps..............looks like i'll take a sabbatical very soon.
