Whistling Helmet

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by mike willis, Jan 22, 2023.

  1. Put the smut to one side, my helmet has developed a whistle.
A slightly more than motorway speeds on the right hand side it whisles.
An AGV Ago, nothing fancy which has been fine for years, 18 plate DVT Multi, no change there.
I have the hearing of a fifty year old so no problem there.
Doesnt make sense. Any clues or answers please.

  2. Is it whistling a single tune and does it do requests?

  3. Whistling is usually due to the visor not fitting snugly to the helmet shell. Check where it seals against the visor openings for any gaps.

  4. Have you had your ears de-waxed recently?

  5. Some could see it as a bonus having a helmet that whistled when you went in the right side!

On a more serious note a couple of things to check - if the rubber round the visor edge come unseated or if there is something stuck in one of the air vents.

  6. Ugh, that would be super annoying. Hope you find a quick fix!

  7. My hearing is good, way below my years, no idea why this started.

  8. New helmet time.

  10. Have you lubed your rubber recently?
Used to get a little bottle of it with Arai lids to keep the seal supple.

  11. Brilliant suggestion, thanks

  12. Start by taping off the vents, go from there , worked for me.

  18. Happened to me and it whistled like hell.

  19. His helmet is now just fine, a good lube and tug was all that was required.
