Hello Folks Recently I lost both the master key and the fob for my 2011 Multistrada in a fire at my workshop , I have looked on ebay to buy the new ignition components and see some sellers have the speedometer included in the sale. My question is, do I need to change the speedo as well as the ECU, transponder , steering lock. Thanks in advance
How much is a replacement key from your Ducati main dealer? Does it not have the PIN access code function?
Having lost both keys, you need to replace the handsfree unit. There is a kit available that covers all the parts needed including the filler cap, seat lock and pannier barrels. The kit is preprogrammed so it's just a case of swapping the parts out. The filler cap and locks are the most troublesome as you can't "open" them without the old keys but it's possible.
Hello Nelly Thanks for your reply, I have been really busy clearing up after the fire and have only just got around to looking up parts for the strada, I have found part number (for 2012 model so I'm guessing they are the same) in the fuel tank section of the parts list. I'm slightly confused as to which kit I need as there are two on offer 59820844A hands free 868 MHZ kit 59820943A Kit hands free 315 MHZ Is there a way to check if I need the 868MHZ or the 315MHZ kit also the are sperate keys on the parts list both the master key and the fob I am a mechanical engineer so will be able to fit the parts if there is no programming to do. Thanks martin
You need the 868 MHZ kit. The 315 is for Japan only. The part numbers you've listed don't exist on the parts system? The correct number is listed as 59821321B which is a superceded one from the original.
Nelly has already given you the correct part number but for future reference this site is a handy source of Ducati parts diagrams and numbers. https://www.bike-parts-ducati.com/d...rada_1200/Multistrada-1200/FUEL-TANK/3/44/0/3
Thanks for the link to parts I see there is an active key and rotor set as well, can this be used with the handsfree unit that is fitted to the bike already ? ROTOR KIT-KEY - 2 ACTIVE KEYS 59820671C
No. In order to use a new key set/barrels, you must have one of the original coded keys to access the reprogramming. The only way out when both keys are lost, is a full system replacement.
I have no idea of how trustworthy this seller is so please don’t take it as a recommendation- but this is the way cheaper than any other result that comes up. https://www.accimoto.com/gb/ducati/multistrada-1200/kit-neiman-cdi-unit/70411/part/motor-bike
