Whats The Best Car Show On Telly?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Red899, Feb 2, 2023.

  1. For me Car SOS from this side of the pond (and potentially the overall GOAT). I could watch it all year.

Too many to mention from the US.. i love all of them but if pushed...

    Kindig
    Fantomworks
    Chasing classic cars

i know Rawlings isnt to everyones taste but an honourable shoutout to Gas monkey too (when theyre not doing novelty cars)

    Have i missed any?

  2. Bangers and cash? I find it a bit old for me tbh but it's interesting to see what's happening in UK auctions.

I don't seem to catch any 'new series' of the above shows though.

Does anyone remember the mark hammond (was that his name? mmmm) series 'A Car is born' and 'A Car is Reborn' etc, they were fantastic!! would love to see shows like that now.

TBH I love Wheeler Dealers still, Elvis is great and Ant was superb, I would watch an episode with twice the length and detail of what they are doing.

  3. Agreed with regard to local talent, the combination of Fuzz and Tim is great, and they build cars properly with a dab of grease where needed, not like all the US shows who build them dry.
And because the US aftermarket is sooooo huge, all the cars tend to end up as a kit of brought in parts.

But you forgot my favorite US show - Diesel Brothers.

  4. Series 9 is out on discovery channel on 9 March (i think theyre on series 10 but i havent seen 9 yet).

I didnt add wheeler dealers because i know how contentious mike brewer can be with some lol.

  5. Never seen this! What channel is it on or is it a YT job?

  6. No idea, I just see it on whilst I flick through the many channels of dross to find something to watch.
We only have the most basic of Sky packages, so it's probably on a channel that's free to view.

  8. The Land Rover series 1 resto he did with Elvis was fkn lovely :upyeah:

  9. Agree with Wheeler Dealers & Car S-O-S and Chasing Classic Cars. Gas Monkey can get a bit tiresome, especially the one where the rebuilt a wrecked Ferrari and changed the suspension geometry with different spec coilovers......

YouTube stuff "4WD 24-7" Aussie off-roaders - great scenery, family show and their campsites are spectacular - just a group of mates trying to drive up and down ever more difficult terrain

Podcast : "Collecting Cars" with Chris Harris (from BBC TG) and his mates, the last 2-3 episodes have been really good value, look out for the interview with Jost Capito - former Williams CEO, the brains behind the 911 GT3, Ford Focus RS, very illuminating on sports car history.

  11. Liked car sos in the beginning, but it turned into the same old act all the time far too soon.
I could condense viewing it now, into before and after film footage. I think I’d find it more entertaining.

  12. I must confess to watching far too many car restoration shows. You name it I’ve watched it. Probably need to get out more.
Only recently discovered Kindig. The attention to detail and design is very impressive.
I’m not a huge fan of American cars, but some of the projects have been brilliant.
The Corvette Stingray was stunning as was the Mercedes Gullwing replica.

On-line probably the late brake show, carwow, Matt Armstrong, Harry's garage, Collecting cars, Top Gear, remove before race are a few I frequent.

  16. He is doing ok for a lad learning his way through it isn't he?! His latest project looks awesome!!! and I really like Tavarish also, so looking forward to that... Bumpstarting a 911 though in a workshop, haha was waiting for that to go wrong

  17. Yeah, it’s great viewing. Even my wife enjoys it!

  18. The old bloke who runs that place has obviously cracked the art of sounding confident and sounding like he knows what he is talking about - even though a lot of what he says is utter drivel

  19. The Grand Tour... :upyeah:

The worst has to be the current iteration of Top Gear - a pale imitation of what it once was with forced humour and at least two presenters who haven't got the slightest clue about cars. A perfect illustration of the fact that the BBC had absolutely no idea why it was so popular and believed that they could recreate it, which they clearly can't...
