1200 Check Engine Light

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Siddo, Feb 10, 2023.

  1. Just had it come on, with the yellow engine symbol.
Bike was running fine, then started popping on overrun.
It cleared itself then I started to get revs dropping and it wouldn't hold power to pull away. Had a couple of stalls and finally got it going but had to keep the revs up.
It now rides fine but the light is still on.
Exhaust valve is disconnected as I have full system with UpMap.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I should check, please or is take to dealer for codes to be read?
    Thanks Men.

  2. Mine just came on too. But mine's still running fine. First thing I know to check is the exhaust valve flapper. In your case, be sure however they disabled it is still functioning. Next up is get the codes. I have TuneBoy but not sure it will read the codes. melcodiag (sp?) is the next thing to round up I suppose.

  3. OBDStar diagnostic tool, not cheap at £370 but very useful for diagnosis and service indicator resetting.

If you were closer I'd suggest dropping by.

  4. My engine light has come on twice. One was the flappy valve, the other was the lambda sensor on the front down pipe.

  5.
  6. Seen the OBD Star but the cost is prohibitive for me.
What's weird is: Start it up and it runs like a bag of shit and dies when you hit the throttle. Couple of minutes later it runs normal but I get the engine errors light.
Anyhow, I'll have to get it sorted as I have a 10 day tip to Spain at start of April.

  7. You could go through a process of disconnecting the MAP sensors one by one and I guess lamda sensors, could be one of those is giving bad readings and that get's detected and then the bike starts running on defaults.

otherwise a trip to a dealer to get the codes read would be a quick way to an answer

  8. Got it checked and cleared by a local bike shop today. Cost me £30 and it's back to normal. Gave it a good ride for 20 miles.
Was the horizontal MAP sensor. Maybe a bit of damp from lack of use.
