Ulez With An 888

Discussion in '851 / 888' started by Bridgland, Feb 16, 2023.

  1. As I live just south of London and very close to the August Expansion of the ULEZ in London and one wrong turn can cause me a £12.50 charge, I wanted to see if I could get the 888 (my only bike) through the limits.

I have just been told that the Certificate of Conformity for my 888 Strada is on its way to me tomorrow from Ducati, but they haven't said whether it is under the magic NOx level.

Euro 3 standards for petrol engines
    • Carbon monoxide (CO): 2.3g/km
    • Total hydrocarbons (THC): 0.20g/km
    • Nitrogen oxides (NOx): 0.15g/km

Thought I would start a poll for whether you think it will fail or pass....... and I will share once I have the results.

  2. If you pop your registration number into this website, it'll tell you yes or no.

    (Deleted link)

FWIW it tells me that my 851 SP3 is not ULEZ compliant.

Probably not the anwer you want...

  3. Already checked and it says it isn't ULEZ compliant, However this article says that a 1997 900ss and a 1998 916 pass easily under the levels, so I am ever hopeful.

  5. You should be fine if you decide to take it to the testing station. The 916 that passed is mine . If you want to pass first time just block off one of the air intakes with some duct tape!

  6. You’re welcome :)
Let us know how you get on

  7. Hope it passes, I sometimes go to Brands on my 888 and stay at my parents in Havering, London. At £12.50 per day to ride 3 miles into the zone I wont be doing that any time soon. Friday to Monday = £50 total daylight robbery!!!

  8. Hopefully the legal action being taken by several of the borough councils effected by Sad Sack’s antics will be successful.

  10. Both (916, 888) of mine are non-compliant... not that I intend to ride them in too often. The Mutley is all good :)

  11. My SP3 comes up as non-compliant on both sites. Mind you, as with KevB, the chances of me actually riding into the ULEZ are very remote!

  12. Me too now that I’m living in the Cotswolds, but with the way things are going I’m sure there’s a ULEZ coming to a town near you soon :(

  13. You don't need to have it tested.
Just email Ducati and mention ULEZ compliance. They send you a certificate as below.

Thank you for your e-mail and for the attached file.
We kindly confirm that your bike is registered as a 996 SPS MY2000 in our systems.
As regards your request for the ULEZ, we kindly inform you that we have forwarded your e-mail to the UK Department in charge.
Please rest assured that you will be contacted back as soon as possibile in order to provide you with the adequate assistance.
    We remain at your disposal.

    Then you receive this:

Re: Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) compliance
Thank you for your further email of 11 January 2022 to our Customer Services Team, regarding the ULEZ compliance for your vehicle. This has been shared with me for response.

I can confirm that our database has since been updated and our online vehicle checker is now showing vehicle registration X107HTL as being compliant with the ULEZ. Therefore, no charge is due for this vehicle.

I hope this is a satisfactory resolution, but please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

  14. Is there a map showing the proposed new ULEZ zone?
Brands is outside the M25, I thought the expanded zone just went to M25 boundary?

  15. Agreed best and cheapest solution, but what’s the earliest bike that Ducati can provide an exemption letter for?
I’m pretty sure I checked for my ‘98 916 BP and Ducati weren’t able to help, which is why I went down the testing route

  17. AFAIK it’s cities, Bath, Birmingham have with expansion into other cities.

I’ve fallen foul of the Birmingham and coughed up my £8 for inadvertently turning into a street that was within it in my lads MX5. All my newer bikes are exempt as is my work van.

  18. Here’s a slightly more informative map showing roads etc.
