  3. I feel your pain, my 13 month old lost his recall at around 7 months, when I was out with a ball he just wouldn't come back, since then I've really lost confidence with him off lead. I need to build it back up bit by bit. My old spaniel was amazing for recall, this one not so much

  4. Have you got a tracker? We’ve got 2 staffs and the girl often likes to leg it. She’s chipped and we’ve had to retrieve her from the local lock up twice. Seriously thinking about chip action.

  5. As if a spaniel needs a reason to be loopy

  6. Any tips for recall training ?

Our Great Dane hasn’t got a clue.
Taught him to play with a ball, took the ball to a field and threw it - the other two ran after the ball, he just ran in the direction he was facing. Straight past me for a bit, then turned round and realised the others were going the other way so ran after them.
Tried ‘catch’ too but he just jumps in the air, nowhere near where the ball is.

  8. Very envious, the NC500 is on my to-do list specially this time of year - timed it well at the moment, this unusually warm spell for Feb so hope you all have a blast.

Iggy looks like hes loving it, hope he stays out of trouble and no more scares

  9. Yeah going to have to get one, she is a little escape artist so spent a fortune on fencing and door closers/stair gates so a few more quid on some tech is next for sure.

Wouldnt change her, but both the Lab's are so good at recall and not going far its a bit of a culture shock to get used to

  10. It was just above freezing in the ‘Gorms with snow on the mountains and just pretty wet and wild elsewhere apart from yesterday. We’d hoped to do some astronomy but unfortunately it was too cloudy. We’re on our way back down atm - just outside Dunblane and about to head into the Lakes, then back to Herts tomorrow. We had planned to be away longer but the university lecturers called off their strike so my son needs to get back to attend classes on Thursday and Friday.

  11. I got the Star Walk 2 app on my phone for a bit of star gazing. Interesting stuff indeed. I didn’t realise Mars was so easy to spot. It’s red.. duh… :D
Good time to do the NC500. Beat the busy time. I was up there last year. I was starting to fantasise about what an RPG would do to the dithering twat in front of me….

  17. Apparently baby oil on a cloth rubbed into the affected area does the job as an alternative to ketchup.
