What’s peoples view on this bike? I posted in the eBay thread but it got a bit buried, looking at pricing it’s about there price wise, I know the 959 is ‘technically’ the better bike but I would choose a 899. anyone know the bike? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12576708...mTrHNMrQQ6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Looks right enough but maybe pricey considering the age and mileage… If you go and have a look at it, ask why the DTC light isn’t on like the ABS one. Not too sure about the 899 but the 959 flashes both until you speed up and the dash readings say the DTC is on. Could be a problem there.
Difficult to say as the pictures aren’t very high res, it looks nice and clean and tidy, how many owners?? Has a few decent bits on it, Termi’s, Filler cap and it’s got the later style footpegs on it. Looks a decent bike but only way to tell is with a close inspection, big Desmo service is due at 15,000 iirc?
I don’t know the bike. Mot history supports mileage. Termis and DP fuel cap. Does it come with original cap and obvs 2 keys? Looks clean. Service history check obvs important. Price wise. I think 899/959 prices are sliding and reckon this is about £1k over a good dealer price. They aren’t a Ducati dealer. Go haggle would be my advice.
Thanks guys, appreciate it. It’s a 4 hour drive for me! So I would need to secure it with deposit and drive up there tbh. I was going to try and get a bit off of it. It’s got all the bits I want, and I’m not bothered about previous owners etc as honestly I’m buying this to keep forever (sure I’ve said that before!) but I really am intending to. ref the Desmond service, yep, 15k miles, so that’s probably 2 years away for me. I think the dealers priced it just above the superbike factory ones that are all up for around £9k
thanks mate, I just checked the manual and if there’s an issue it shows a ‘-‘ in the DTC box and ERR with a triangle warning, but I’ll check all that over if I get that far
probably in honesty but I’m not sure if these would pass with baffles as I’ve done cadwell before with Termis, unless the circuits have all lowered them a lot. Snetterton might be a struggle
From the cosmetic perspective, it looks good. Is there a boot run on the swing arm, also are the bar ends the same? The rear brake fluid looks like it could do with a change too. Obviously just pointing out the negatives for your bartering potential and not all the positives
m Exactly this, it’s always easier to have them and get stock cans used, than try to find a decent set of Termis
keep the termis, 100% bikes with a set are about a grand more than those without unless high mileage or white need to get a good lump off, 5 or 6 hundred, a good warranty most will do a refundable deposit until you go see it, which is essential, try rot agree a price before you go
GY plate so probably originally a Laguna Motorcycles machine. If you do buy it and want some standard cans I have a set here that have done about 100 road miles. Don't want much for them but will have to collect as they are heavy. DM if you are interested.
Looks a nice example Phil, as EPJ said a bit over what you’d normally pay but if you find the right bike and it’s in the condiction you want and has the bits you want (termis presumably) go for it. Not jealous at all
