I didn't watch the fight, but the reports are pretty dire. Everyone involved made a lot $$$ which was the principle idea.
It’s incredible how powerful marketing and publicity can be. Two mediocre cruiser weights going at it. The revenue generated from it phenomenal! It must understandably really piss off aspiring professionals. Carl Froch has clearly seen the potential for a quick buck. He’ll be next in there. Wait and see. Wasn’t a great fight but I had a flutter, covered the ppv cost and have an enough spare for a few gallons of juice in the bike for a blast next weekend
Not to mention that boxing used to be a bit of a circus, almost literally, in that it was a big part of carnivals and fairs, with members of the public taking on professional prize-fighters in the hope of winning a big purse. So, in some ways, not all that different, to what happened in Saudi Arabia.
I wish I had seen Mayweather in his pomp... even from this exhibition you can see he had a real fast jab and it looked like he moved well and could punch from all sorts of angles. The sign of a natural boxer imo - Tyson was the same, he just 'knew' how to box/fight. And I'm not even gonna comment on Fury/Paul... wouldn't encourage them.
