  1. Or maybe jump an the bandwagon given everyone else is doing it?

  2. It’s like shopping for a flight… you get tracked and it goes up… and up… so you panic buy something. The sneaky little rascals…

  3. My wife and I used to be named drivers on my daughters policies and it would usually drop the premium significantly. Last time though it was higher so we took us off (we must be too old now!)

  4. Yes, the Ukraine war must have increased the cost of insurance. Odd that Hunt & Sunak aren't shouting that the increased premiums are pushing up inflation? Though perhaps its only wage increases that do this...

  5. Exactly, can’t you grasp (pun intended) that : unamused:

  6. That's with me and her dad on the insurance
It's the dropping the student that has hiked it up and adding 1000 extra miles

  7. Just had my car renewal through, it has doubled from last year, given the motor it's actually pretty cheap but it's doubled so I did a few comparison sites yesterday and I can renew for the same as I paid for last years premium, so I'll be moving shortly.

  8. They are literally all the same. No matter which ones you get warned off by people who’ve have had a bad experience, there is somebody who is having a great time with them for the moment then eventually they put the prices up and you have to shop around again.
Go to a comparison site, mark down the cheapest one that meets all the requirements and then go talk to your insurance company again, you’ll be amazed how much they knock off it

  9. Having said that I would add that direct line is an absolute joke. They make a big deal of the fact they don’t advertise on comparison sites, yeah no wonder I’ve tried them several times and they’ve always been hundreds of pounds more expensive. How they stay in business is beyond me!

  10. I'm compelled to add to this thread that the best recommendation you can have for an insurance company is how they react, treat you, and perform customer service wise when you need to claim.
Unfortunately the only way to find out about this is the hard way, and it can be the really hard way.

In that respect the cheapest is not always the best.

  11. Some of the cheapest quotes only have on line presence and NO telephone service so be aware as I'm sure you are
My girl had a cheap quote of £369 but when we looked further into it as above
    Cheapest isn't always bestest

  12. I think I was with "Quote me" for a few years, but found it frustrating that I couldn't contact them easily for policy questions, renewal etc and left for that reason alone despite being fairly competitive.

  13. I can understand that but I guess that’s how they keep the costs low. I’ve never had a problem but equally I’ve never had to make a claim

  14. if it was really substantially lower then could appreciate this, but i saved money when i moved, and to a more conventional company, another reason for moving obvs.

  15. It went down with me and her dad on her policy

now my boy has a renewal at £500!!!!!! more for his ST to £1400 which is down to £1200
It's cheaper without us on his policy he said

  16. My own renewal Admiral £309
Did a comparison with martin Lewis went for a bit higher than cheapest as hadn't a clue who they were
Aviva inc breakdown £266 which I didn't have with admiral NCB protected

  17. I get in quite well with direct line multi car. I pay over the odds for my runaround but then they give me a 50% discount on my second car..mclaren…saves a fortune overall!

  20. I received an email from LV a couple of days ago telling how claims were on the increase and how much the cost of claims had gone up. They also outlined what they, as responsible insurers, are doing to limit the impact on their customers. Got my car insurance renewal today, the premium has gone from £380 to £560. I can only speculate how much the premium would have been if they weren’t trying to mitigate the impact of rises  :joy: Andy

Coincidentally, just had a phone call from Cornmarket …… they couldn’t get close to the £560 :scream:
