V4 Garmin Zumo Mount

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by SteveE, Mar 3, 2023.

  1. I’ve had a Garmin Zumo mount (that I had in its box I the garage) fitted to my V4 (PP) but my BMW (Nav VI) doesn’t fit it. I’ve looked at the box for the mount and it says it’s a Zumo 590 mount. Rather than fit a new mount (trips to garage etc) and as the Nav VI is old, can anyone tell me if the Zumo XT will fit on the Zumo 590 mount? I believe the Zumo 590 is obsolete. Urghhh :-(

  2. nope ... the 590 and XT have completely different mounts and power connections.

  3. My Zumo 660LM and Navigator VI fit the same mount and operate, but the BMW jog-wheel doesn't work with the 660.
I believe the Nav IV & V also fit the same mount, but haven't tried them.
Also, I was told the Zumo 590 & XT will not fit the 660/Nav mount.
    Hope it helps.
    Tom.

  4. Looking to swap the mounts back but it looks as if the cabling to the Zumo 590 mount is hard wired into it, so I’ll have to strip out the cable and run another one. Sh**t wish I’d checked more carefully before getting it fitted :-(

  5. thankfully, wiring up the XT power to a keyed power (the GPS power take off on your Ducati Multi) is fairly easy.

The pre 2015 models have the GPS power under the left front side panel, and as shown in the photo below indicated with yellow oval, and then a closeup of the connector with plug).

The post 2015 1200 and 1260 Multis have the GPS power under the left top black panel (the two wires woth white connected with cap on it, in the red circle of the photo below).

for either model, you simply disconnect the plug that has some sort of resistor or some electronic bit that's way above my pay grade), then when i did was use that plug to solder the GPS power supply power and ground wires, then connect the two halfs of the connector up, and Bob's your uncle.

I've done the GPS power connection on my 2010 and my 2018 Multis, so am familiar with both ... if you have any questions, just ask.

it really is easy to do yourself.
