Does anyone know whether the Adaptive cruise activates the brake lights when it’s slowing down for a vehicle in front?
I asked the guys following me last year and it does operate the brakes. I experimented not touching the throttle or brakes on a motorway and the adaptive cruise control did it all.
Very dangerous then. My friends who followed behind me said my lights came on. If they don't even when someone pulls into your lane in front of you, not having the brakes come on would be extremely dangerous for obvious reasons.
Does the adaptive cruise control apply brakes as well as adjust the throttle ? I don’t know but suspect it’s throttle only.
Definitely the ACC applies the brakes when just engine braking is not enough to maintain the gap and when it does apply the brakes then the Brake light does come on but not if using just engine braking. It works just as if it was the rider making the changes. If you are brave enough to trust it (ACC enabled and follow a car to a roundabout after a 70mph dual carriageway!) I can assure you it brakes very hard and quite late! I had the brakes covered and an escape route planned but it convinced me that it really does work. Remember that if you do that it gets down to about 20mph very quickly and then all the dash lights flash up to remind you that you only have 2 wheels . Like you I wondered about it and had it conformed by a mate riding behind me with comms set up between us.
