Dvt 1200s Multistrada

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Duke-70, Mar 6, 2023.

  1. Hi all,
I bought a 2105 DVT in November 2022, with 14k. It had been sat up for a year and needed a good service. I do all my own servicing as I have strong background in aviation engineering.
    1. Engine oil & filter replaced
    2. Air filter replaced
    3. Coolant replaced
    4. Spark plugs replaced
    5. Cam belts replaced
    6. Brake & Clutch fluid replaced
    7. Chain & Sprockets replaced
    8. Check torques carried out as per schedule
    9. Brakes callipers / pads cleaned

    The bike is running sweet,
however I can’t find a dealer or independent to reset the service light. Can anyone on here help, I'm based in Wilts 0DE6D21A-1C12-423C-B849-4A530E944267.jpeg 8CD1D787-1542-4C6D-ADD0-1CBFAD0C7ACB.jpeg 0DE6D21A-1C12-423C-B849-4A530E944267.jpeg 8CD1D787-1542-4C6D-ADD0-1CBFAD0C7ACB.jpeg BD3D0E47-E039-4299-838E-54311B83231C.jpeg F155BACB-DC42-4C0F-A822-C5E44967DB66.jpeg 79F65938-1A51-4140-AC4B-FA2059ABBDB2.jpeg

  3. Welcome, looks good. I will mention it’s worth replacing the fuel filter too, relatively easy and beneficial.

  9. Welcome to the forum. If you're up Cheltenham way on your travels I could reset the service light for you.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  10. Many thanks Bumpkin, I will PM you

  11. You'll need 30 posts, IIRC, under your belt before you can start a conversation (PM chat). It's an anti apam maneuver by the powers that be. I'll drop you one to initiate, no need to reply until you're ready though.

  12. Welcome Duke! You did great job there! I search forum for finding the correct spark plugs for the 2015 DVT and come to your thread here. I saw that you use MAR9A-J but in a repair manual that i download from internet it says to use MAR10A-J.
From online parts sites they state that spark plugs are MAR9A-J too....

Do you know which is the correct to use?

  13. Those plugs are one heat range unit apart, not much in other words. So the differences that you're seeing may be down to where in the world the advice is being given.

Plugs self clean north of 500°C. Pre-ignition can start to happen when they reach 950°C. The temperature of the plugs is influenced by quite a few things, in hotter climates and/or regions with poor fuel the recommendation is to go for a higher heat range plug. For the UK I'd say the 9s are the ones to go for.

If it's any help the factory workshop manual for the 1260 DVT Multistrada lists both.

  14. Thanks Christoforos.

The correct plugs for the DVT are MAR9A-J, the owners manaul & workshop manual are incorrect. The parts manual shows the correct plugs MAR9A-J listed. I queried this myself with Craig at Moto Rapido and he confirmed the correct plugs are MAR9A-J.

I had ufortunately bought MAR10A-J plugs beforehand, but upon removal I found MAR9A-J were fitted, hence the confirmation with Moto Rapido. The MAR10's, I understand, were fitted to earlier models and are a cooler heat range plug, which is better suited high rev range, like trackdays /racing
