Steaming MotoGP 2014

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Mr C, Aug 5, 2013.

  1. For those who are not current BT customers and don't want to pay (In my case)£120P/M extra to BT over Sky for broadband. What are the options for seeing some MotoGP without making BT richer.

Can someone recommend a decent channel that may steam it or should I ask my neighbour Alan if I can watch it at his?

  2. Steam? Like vegetables?

I think this 'steaming' summarises the decision to put coverage on such a limited basis.....

cant help OP with the answer though, sorry

  6. As annoying as the switchover is, its part of the reason behind me switching our phone and broadband over to BT last week. We were looking to switch from Talk Talk and had actually started to move over to Sky when I realised that Sky on our exchange had a usage limit and traffic management resulting directly in reduced speeds at peak times. When I looked at BT they worked out about 3 quid per month more expensive but I get BT sport for free, and free HD for a year too. It swung it for me.

  10. Sorry, there is no free way of watching the MotoGP next year. Its BT or having to subscribe to another European provider. There certainly isnt any other UK based company

  11. Buy a highlights/review DVD at the end of the season? Not sure if there are any lower cost ways of watching Moto GP live in 2014.

Shame there isn't even a terrestrial TV highlights show like Match Of The Day provided for footy when Sky had live match rights.

  12. I get on average 10mb and have never had an issue with Sky. I have threated to leave that many times that I have a really good deal. Line rental is cheaper than BT and I pay £5 P/M for unlimited BB, was £1 P/M for the best part of last year. I love the Sky apps, so MotoGP aside why the hell would I go to BT.

    BT Line rental £15.45
    Infinity £15.00 (£18 year 2) Ohh and that's 40GB limit!!! £5 extra for unlimited
    Router delivery £6.95
    Activation fee £30

    Sky BB £5.00
    Line rental £14.50

Looks like I'll be going round to Alan's house.

    BT = Bastard Twats

  13. That's another point, I rarely watch live races. TBH I feel a bit robbed

  14. Agreed, I usually play football or ride my bike on a sunny Sunday, so streaming is OK but I can't record it. I'm feeling seriously pissed off at this.

  15. i pay the 100 something euros at motogp.com.... works great ...

  16. Think I may keep all this years recordings and watch them again next year

  17. Virgin Media (who I'm just moving to) say they are "in negotiation" with BT to get it and are pretty confident they will. Probably just pre-sale BS, but since I'm so p*ssed with Sky that I'm off anyhow, I'll trust to luck and see what happens.

I phoned sky this morning because I have "no satellite signal" and waste time re-doing the checks I already did via their website, then they say we'll send an engineer and it will cost you £69. I said "I don't want to pay that, as I pay you almost £60 a month, and amount which keeps sneaking up all the time, and I think it would be good if you could reinvest some of that in providing me some customer service" - they hung up!!

Ironically I had to remove the card to quote my contract number when cancelling, and I noticed it had a big burn mark where the chip is, so I cleaned it up a bit and the box is working again, so nothing to do with signal or any of the checks they made me do twice! (although it's a worry that it did that to the card).

Don't want to go back to BT for my BB as is is slow and their service sucks almost as badly as sky. so will see if Virgin come up with the goods. If nothing else my BB will be a lot faster!

  18. Unfortunately for me Sky don't have equipment in the local exchange so they have to lease line space from BT so we would be forced to take their crappy Connect product which has a rubbish download limit and they have to manage the throughput at busy times. As BT own the infrastructure they don't impose limits on their own products.

We're out in the sticks so the max speed here is about 6mbps. Its slow but has been useable with Talk Talk up until lately but they are now limiting throughput too and we have a lot of streaming going on on the house. Hopefully well get a more useable service from BT even if it costs a couple of quid more per month.

  19. So, have Eurosport lost the contract then? If so that's a real shame as I always watched the races on Eurosport.

  20. Guess I'll just read about It in MCN .
