The current series does appear to be even worse than previous ones. A bunch of vacuous narcissistic idiots with absolutely no idea about management, leadership or social interaction. They all seem to be picked on the basis of what will make entertaining television, not on their actual abilities. So, as the original thread said ten years ago, they are all utter twats who are clearly more interested in just being on TV (presumably to become "a celebrity") than actually doing anything useful Seriously, if this lot are the best "entrepreneurs" available there's no wonder the country is going down the drain...
You've purged more thoughts on this, I remember hovering over the Channel-changer button, and thinking - is it possible that the BBC have finally tipped the contents too far in the quest for "entertainment" during their selection process? Would love to know the criterior here, how much Sugar has a say in the selection process - e.g. - "Yes, BBC, you can pick some likeable character, some amusing characters and possibly even some characters that will never make it to the final, but you have to ensure that there are "X" percentage candidates that have some real nous together with some kind of credibility within their proposed business plan*." I've gone through all of them this year, and I think at least a couple who could have been worthy of a placement have already gone. The 5 or 6 that were grilled last Thursday were all terrible this year as regards*. I even worry for the candidate who mentioned Mermaids several times, and hope this doesn't ever affect her psyche at all in the future/on reflection.
sad as coming over quite likeable in some parts back then, I think she took the smacker on the cheek/lips very well, all things considered.
Taking a leaf out of her own interviewing style I’d have told her “well you may think your boss David Sullivan has been hard done by by the tabloids over his soft core porn business you’ve not mentioned your other boss David Gold, who as the ceo of Goldstar Publications has a very active business in the Hardcore Porn industry! I think this year it was “can we get someone who looks like a Wallace & Grommet character?” Sums up the show when you get to the final 5 and their business plan is bollocks, just shows what you’ve got is a room of candidates who know fuck all about starting and running a company but everything about stabbing colleagues in the back and shitting on them to the boss at every opportunity……….they should go on the do very well
I’ve never watched this despicable program, and have no intention of ever lowering my standards, but after seeing a clip of it on Gogglebox last night am absolutely amazed that in this day of not being able to say anything for fear of upsetting anyone, how on earth does a show like this get away with publicly humiliating people over and over again?
Who the hell would do business with despicable people like that? Why does the BBC think this is acceptable programming? How can anyone watch this total nonsense shit. No wonder people refuse to pay the license fee.
