Happy so far it cleaned the carb and components well enough that the bike started. I used to take them to my local mechanic but he never charged me, but by his own admission it is a PIA for him to do. He did say that he tried a lot of cleaning agents before settling on the one he uses. Not the one I bought but will buy the brand he uses. Going to clean up my old cycle parts ready to sell on as I’ve a lot to get through.
Sort of small bike thing…bought some kore Stanley organising boxes so I can clear my desk top ones and stack them under the workbench to make easy to move around garage or outside if I need it. Sorted my tall cabinet, so much bike and car stuff I never nor will ever use! Bit of a chuck away session…fixed the tv in there so working now. Then stuck all the stuff in ‘toy’ piles I need to do…911 stuff on front seat, pani pile and monster pile…. Now just watched the mighty reds charge thru to the next round of fa cup
More work on the Aprilia RS 125, handlebar controls need attention. Seems the previous owner decided that the positioning pegs didn’t need to be located in the appropriate holes. Stripped the faux carbon fibre from the rear hugger as it looks gash. Started it up again which will be a daily ritual until my lad uses it on a daily basis. Might re polish the frame and swing arm as it looks a little dull but not tarnished. Ordered new tank cowl and tailpiece to convert it to a mono and not a bipod to as it stands.
Mothers Day to Scouse birds is just an excuse for a piss up, so dived in with both feet and got p1ssed with them. In an Uber and not sure what day it is
@bradders, is it the engine check light that's on? Might well be able to help with that if you haven't managed to sort it.
Removed rear wheel from my v2 Panigale. This was without doubt the tightest nut I have ever had to get off (excluding siezed of course). It nearly defeated the Clarke-a-like Impact Wrench. But we won in the end.
Had the same over the winter last year with the MTS. Battery had gotten to a low state due to the draw of the tracker and alarm before I got around to installing my solar charger. Though it reset after a few ignition cycles, ironically on the way to the dealer to get it investigated. They read the code and confirmed that it was just low battery. Now have the OBDStar gadget and can DIY.

After a 60 mile ride around central Hampshire in the dubious conditions yesterday, I have just finished washing the crap off the Multistrada. The grit gets everywhere. Gave the chain a good scrub and applied fresh lubricant too whilst I was about it. I’m trying the (relatively new) Oxford Mint range which seems okay and up to the task …… so far Andy
Dropped my spare V4S Mutley alloy wheels off for a colour change powder coating after pulling the rusty bearings and Cush rubbers out, strangely the bearings put up more of a fight than the Cush rubbers, though there is little to no access to the inner bearing faces to get a puller to grip or drift on them.
Went into the garage, peeled the dust cover off the 999 after the winter lay off, turned on the ignition, pressed the button and she started straight away. Result. And another recommendation for Optimate!
Whipped the LH fairing off my road 749R to install a NOCO flylead. Noticed the LH fairing well where it joins at the bottom was full of coolant. No evidence of it anywhere else. Suspect the lower LH radiator hose joint is slightly weepy.
Finally got the fairing on this f*cking panigale. If it never comes off again, it will be too soon. Stil have one small inner bolt to fit, but after 30 mins of trying I’ve walked away and got a sausage sandwich…. But it’s now ready for @cookster to mot it for me and run it around while I’m still licence less. I actually started with fitting stuff: new race cap - except won’t fit. Some posh rear sets from @bettes - except you need a mechanical degree and 8 hours of time to fit…. It’s clear why ducati have made record profits: they’ve made bikes that take a day’s Labour to do the smallest of tasks! Am so fed up with this bike…better be worth it when I ride it
The Panigale is a masterpiece of engineering and design Bradders, it takes a lot of time and effort to package so much into such a small tidy area and still make the bike look so good. The downside of that is when you start working on them, you sometimes have to take two or three things off to get to the bit you want, I’ve noticed that any work you do on the Panigale takes twice as long as a “ normal “ bike it’s just how it is, when it starts to get on your pip, just walk away and have a coffee break or something. On my Ninja 1000 SX I can do an oil change in 15 minutes easily, you don’t even need to take any fairing panels off , the gap in the bottom of the belly pan is designed to let you get to the spin off metal filter, piece-a-piss,….but the dealers still charge you £160 for an oil service !
Imagine one piece fairings with dzus fasteners and easy access components that need to be accessed for crash damage or servicing….then imagine the absolute opposite. That’s Ducati evolution over the last 20 years….all with more flimsy items and parts fitted in the factory that are almost impossible to get at ever again.
Dropped the R6 off for a fettle in preparation for Almeria and the NC29 Gullarm for resurrection, having been stored dry in my dining room for 2 years. Andy
