They are very good for boiling water, as I've got what I consider the full kit. Flash, Mini-Mo & joule; for winter camping. The minimo is more versatile as you can cook inside it & simmer.
How much heat do these things throw out underneath? The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of replacing the single burner flat camping stove we use in my car with one of these. The lower part of the split tailgate of my car is a useful place to use the cooker, it's carpet, but covered in a fitted Synthetic Canvas load liner, so I have to carry a small sheet of Honeycomb material around with me to put the stove on and stop the stove doing any damage. It appears to throw almost as much heat downwards as upwards. Being so efficient I'm assuming there is hardly any heat loss downwards with these.
I get the feeling it’s for when Nasher is out and about during the course of his pastimes, not some wild camping trips into the New Forest living off nuts and berries and whatever he can kill vibe.
Yes and No DS Lady Nasher, Toby the dog and I do a lot of Walking, you could even call it Hiking or Rambling, and it is nice to make a brew when you get back to the car. Also, if we've had a good walk along the beach again it's nice to make a brew. A Jetboil could actually be taken with us so we could have a cup of hot soup lunchtime. I also have a plan for a Multistrada, which I'd like to use to get back to my younger years with a bit of stripped back to basics camping on my own. A Jetboil would again be suitable.
You can buy a hanging wire for the jetboil, various brands, or you could possibly fashion one yourself.

They have a weaved outer rim system to help recover & focus heat upwards into main chamber. The name jetboil indicates how they can burn & stain the interior of the pots if left unattended, they are noisy! As shown in these images, a cooking 'pot support' module is needed for 1.5L pan & summit skillet. Or using your own frying shenanigans. There are off-brand copies but personally I prefer supporting the original manufacturer or family inventor. On my wish list; genesis basecamp system & luna satellite burner accessory.
Back to the beginning of this thread, I've been unable to use the SportPersuit website as it requires you to join and I never get the emails to confirm my email address, not even in my Spam folder. I've tried several times over the last couple of days and have even tried using my work email address with the same result. I've actually been a bit decisive today and placed an order, following of course some consultation with Lady Nasher yesterday evening We decided the Jetboil Minimo was our best bet as it's not only more suited to warming Soup or Noodles up, but if one of us is out on our own we can eat out of it. It would be all I need for a couple of days off on my own with minimal gear. When we've had a play we might buy a Flash or Zip to compliment it. They are great pieces of kit, and if I still had one might still be using it. But in this instance I'm going bang up to date in pursuit of the quickest brew possible.
I have a trangia stove, the Jetboil is to make coffee either adhoc or whilst the eggs and lardons are cooking on the stove. I need multiple coffees in the morning
Jetboil has great reviews and it’s quick to boil.
