From my experience on cold days, but especially on rainy days in which the legs and shins end up dripping, I wanted to find a solution to cover the side entrances. This was one of the few "disadvantages" of my PPV4 in which with the touring screen it gives you excellent protection in the upper part, and although it is very good up to the thighs, from the shins down it was somewhat deficient in proportion. Removing them was not the solution because in the end the air and the rain continued to come in and all that was left to do was cover them to act as protection. Unfortunately I did not find anything that I liked, and I decided to update those of the new V4 Rally. Here in this little video you can see how they look on my V4 Pikes Peak. You just have to remove the side covers to change them. The upper cover is different and then you have to order the entire exploded view of the gate system, spring, screws, hinge, etc... Total cost about €60 with shipping (purchased in Spain) I wish you like it. It is a very interesting improvement for little money. Please excuse me if my English is not very good. A cordial greeting.
Can you explain this a little as I'm not sure I understand. Is this literally the hardware from the Rally, just retrofitted to the PP?
Seems that way , and good to know for those who still ride in the not so nice conditions. Thanks for the post tifosi256 Bugger , sorry meant MrV4PP
Excellent find Mr_V4PP - as one who rides in all weather, I have been in the dealer today and the parts are on order - about £25 each side, will fit them when they arrive. The upper wing on the V4 Rally is different to accommodate the flap, its pivot point and springs. it should then be a case of fitting the flap to the Rally wing and swapping it over to the V4, seems 2 covers on each side have to come off for access to the upper wing mounts, will know more when the bits arrive. (Edited)
According to what the dealer told me, the lower wings are the same references in the Rally in the PP. I think you don't need to buy the ones below...
Sorry I’ve got a bit confused and probably being thick … could someone just summarise what needs to be ordered, what needs to be done and rough overall cost?
As I indicated at the beginning of the message, the entire cost of the complete game for both sides does not reach €60. This price does not include labor. If you are an expert, in 2 hours of work you have everything finished. You have to assemble all the parts of the nozzle and then exchange it by removing the side panels and gills.
I like the idea of a flap to shut the "vents" formed by the air deflectors. It would be nice to have all the part numbers that have to be ordered. I've not yet found a parts list for a Multistrada Rally as I think there may be one or two other parts which might be worth transplanting onto a V4/V4S/V4 PP.
I lost the sales receipt, I'm sorry I can't help you. We placed the order on the fly with the dealer selecting the parts in the exploded view. In total there are 6 pieces for each side, I do know that.
The Multistrada V4 Rally owner's manual has now been published on the Ducati Website, and includes details of the adjustable vents on the air/side deflectors: Just waiting for the Multistrada V4 Rally spare parts catalogue to be published to find out the part numbers for the bits to retro fit to my V4S.
I dropped in at Ducati Aylesbury yesterday to see if they could order the parts for adding the adjustable vents from the Rally to my V4S. The spring/detent part was shown as not available for sale, all the other parts (new upper air deflector, the adjustable flap and associated fixings) were available and added up to about £46 for both sides. Ducati Aylesbury inquired what the problem was with the unavailable part and was told that it's "in development" and should be available with a few weeks.
Can you please post a photo of the part that they tell you is not available? It's weird... I got them all. This past weekend I tried it and it's fantastic. Several friends have bought it too.
I didn't get a list of part numbers or a screen shoot of the parts catalogue. The part that was unavailable looked like a small cylinder which appeared to act as the detent mechanism to hold the adjustable flap in place. The dealer suggested that this part might be in limited supply and stocks were being held for production of new bikes.
Actually there are 6 pieces for each side: 1 Rally top nozzle 2 Retractable cover 3 Fixing screw 4 spring 5 hinge 6 Foam stop (10mmx10mm) The same has occurred to more people to mount them like me and there is a lack of availability, they even think about incorporating it into the entire Mts V4 range....
Been told today that the parts (all 6 of them for each side) are still on order - no update from Ducati regards availability. IMO - If you ride in all weathers - especially when it is wet and muddy - then these are a must for the V4 Multi range. Many riders may not really need / use them but in wet and dirty conditions they are must - hopefully they really do work in keeping both the rider and the back of the bike cleaner .
