to be fair it stayed in one piece longer than my first niner RDO singlespeed did - 4 months on that and the drive side chain stay failed....
They’re prepping the course for you Drinky, Penny Farthing this year? The hardest sector in my opinion, was very muddy the year I did the sportive. Good luck hope the weather is kind. https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/he...an-up-paris-roubaixs-arenberg-forest-cobbles/
Managed to get 30 miles on me Ribble this aft. Been daily hour commute and a bit of turbo for last week or more, weathers been rubbish round here. Couple of pics anyway....
First time I did it I was on a Ti bike which was perfect. Did it again a few years later and gave myself a ‘bit of a challenge’, Did it on a full aero bike 60mm carbon wheels and rode the whole course in the big ring. I hit the Arenburg, both bottles flew out of their cages, my bars made a massive crack and dropped in the stem and my seat dropped about 25mm. Rode it all in the big ring but man I was battered and fooked at the end.
Only ever ride the Pave on a Ti bike, Gatorskin tyres double taped bars and gloves which I don’t usually wear on a road bike. My mate who used to race warned me not to ever put it on the small ring as the chain would drop. Rode the Pave a fast I could and used the tarmac for a little recovery, as you say you arrive at the end battered. It’s a long time in the saddle being shaken and stirred. I recall you mentioning the TT hence me referencing another unsuitable bike.
The weather was really nice today until I got changed to go cycling. Then it rained. A lot. I got wet. 12.5 miles out, 12.5 miles back into a head wind. Ace ride. Same again tomorrow hopefully
All of the above is fine with me - it was one of those rides where your brain is just telling you to turn round early, but you don't, you stick to the plan and when you finish you feel good because you did. This morning was actually sunny and warmish
Was out on a mtb this morning, then peddled to work then peddled home.. .. And didn't get rained on.... That's a first for about three weeks. Hellish muddy on the mtb this morning though
Yesterday with two friends we cycled 29.5 miles and 2,900 feet in some of the windiest conditions I’ve ever experienced on a bike. Nice lunch at West Bay. I bought a book of nine rides in the afternoon and will be back at sometime.
They are nice feature and there are many, we don’t see them commonly in the neighbouring counties of Hampshire or Wiltshire. https://www.dorsetlife.co.uk/2015/01/time-of-the-signs/
