I lived in rural Staffs, North of Lichfield in the 70s and early 80s, I still go back for work so will keep an eye out for similar.
I don’t ride that way on any longer, use it as a cut through if I don’t fancy the A5 drag race West though. Plus I get a much nicer view and lighter traffic going through Cannock Chase.
Not ever seen wallabies, plenty of wannabes though. Deer is the hazard seen a few accidents and the aftermath, sadly.
Went out yesterday but sun shining this morning, cleaned up the drivetrain and went out and found some proper slop on another 20 odd mtb miler, needs a proper wash now.....

More new bits today, thanks to Stonehenge my lbs, who fitted me in, let me watch and gave me a coffee. Whilst they fitted new 11 /42 cassette Chain Gear change cable adjusted the rear derailleur. just rode it home, perfect. bike has now done 3,750 miles and has triggers broom tendencies, only the saddle and frame to go…..
Not sure who I used for those but ‘names on frames’ rings a bell. If you google something like ‘bicycle frame name stickers’ you’ll get loads of them.
