It would reach a natural conclusion. If everyone did it they’d probably go slower. It happens in the races… it’s just using whatever you can to get the best result.
More importantly it gets very dangerous, see moto 3 for (loads of) recent evidence. I hate it lol. imagine investing all that time and effort as a factory or satellite team and he leeches onto the back of it. Ah well it ain’t going to change until he causes himself or someone else and injury so suppose we’d better get used to it.
Racers try to use every advantage they can. Marquez finds someone who’s quicker than him in some sections and plans his lap to take advantage of it. Smart riding in my opinion. Complaining about fairness when it’s within the rules is a pointless exercise. I get where you’re coming from, but it’s like when someone whines “life’s not fair”… If he had the best bike I suspect he would be the one giving a tow (I think that used to happen to him)? The only way you could prevent it is to have them going out on their own to set qualifying times, but then you could end up with some getting slightly more favourable conditions than others. He looks incredibly motivated at the moment. It should make for some interesting racing, not to mention the performances so far from other riders. I’m barely going to move from the sofa this weekend.
Beautiful red motorcycles, i thought Jack was gonna win it then, what a shame but i do like the new format.
Can’t they just make all the races 12 lap… then we don’t have to watch them spend 10 laps managing tyres. great ride from miller, Bagnia ominously strong. Fabio is done for the season, Yamaha haven't bought a bike he can win with, and even with the ease that he re-passed and ditched Morbidelli, still I really don’t think we will see a Yamaha win anything other than a wet race, especially if the KTM is good
What a fantastic start to the season, an absolutely awesome sprint race, Jack Miller is definitely going to win a race this season as will the Aprilia's but it's great to see Pecco win and start the defence of his first title. So looking forward to tomorrows race.
I have to say all credit to MM, he rode extremely well today and was in the right place at the right time to capitalise on the mistake made by Jack and Oliveira, he's definitely back to being a contender.
I think MM fan or not, it’s great to watch him up there battling again, did anyone see how much it was backing in off throttle… insane
Broken shoulder blade for EB, going to smart under braking for a while I’d wager (when he eventually returns!!! 2 riders down and we haven’t even got to the opening (proper) race of the season.
The sprint race has basically doubled the risk of injury. Maybe more, as there is extra pressure to qualify near the front of the grid as it gives two rolls of the dice…. I said earlier, dont get distracted from gut feelings, I did, deselected Bagnia for FQ…just because I like Fabio! The Yamaha looks second rate. Fabio was nearly skittled at least once also. It all looked a bit wild west tbh and considering rider safety, number of races to go, things will need to settle down. The extra pressure to be near the front of the grid will (maybe already has) lead to more offs. Consider: Pol out, maybe end of racing career injuries, Bastianini out, with other racers already riding their luck. We have not had the first main race yet and two riders are out.
Loved the sprint race and it made for a good saturday of racing. That is why i prefer the WSBK. feel like i am getting my monies worth for the subscriptions
When I had interest in WSBK a 2 race format I thought was good, I’m not sure on the super sprint format so far.
They will need to calm down a bit and I was a bit disappointed that Mooney lost both riders, but I don’t think anyone can deny that the race was very exciting to watch.
