I must admit it can seem confusing to some of us… But hear this: the organisers specifically requested it to be in its own corner turned the other way so the public could look at it from all angles. Because they didn’t know what it was. Never heard of a « Ducati Matrix » before. Good grief…
When i was at school and was told to stand in the corner and turn the other way it was because i was a naughty boy Ive still not seen a Matrix in the flesh
A surprise post today… I have been considering playing with a carbed bike for a while. I have been looking into the Supersport range these past months. Yeah, ugly square front light, square butt, I know... But I found out I actually really dig the 1989-1990 900SS. Like REALLY… And then I found a deal I could not refuse. Being limited in space and maintenance capability (3 bikes to take care of is more than enough for me), I had to shuffle things around in the garage. Owning two Tamburinis, one of which a 916 SP3, and the 3rd bike being my wife’s 796 Monster, it turns out the Matrix had to go - sigh… Interestingly enough, it sold within 2 hours of my listing it, at listed price with 3 potential buyers competing for it. All of them had been looking for quite a while (2 years-ish) for a pristine unmollested one, but apparently, they are as rare as a unicorn’s horn. First in at asked price got it. A fine young man, not very knowledgeable about Ducatis in general and even less about 998s, but an absolute fan of the movie and earning good money as a video game company owner in Paris. I think we can talk about a young timer phenomenon… The speed at which it sold tells me: 1/ there are not many at all out there. 2/ younger folks in their mid-30’s who watched the movie in their teens are looking for it. 3/ I probably sold a little “below” the market. FWIW, I bought it in summer 2020 with 7000 miles for 13.000€. Sold it in spring 2023 with 9500 miles for 17.000€… These seem to be quickly becoming expensive collector’s items. Someone recognizes this building?
I think if both parties are happy with the sale then fine, but yes a little on the cheap side in my opinion. i can't wait for the next bike installment.
Only just seen this Guillaume. That stretch of road actually is a track one weekend a year, usually the first weekend in august. They run a hill climb up it, last time I rode it was about 3 days before the race last year and the road surface had just been cleaned
Nah… I got myself two dirty old Italian whores freshly arrived from Asia after a couple weeks at sea (pardon my French). I know, I know… That sounds unholy and very unhealthy. See, the Green Godess, as beautiful as she was, wasn’t dirty enough for me. And they are going to get a good scrub and a good spank while I am at it. I will open an other thread as it’s going to be quite an adventure, this one…
Oh they look pretty, but undress them and things get more crusty… They are both coming from Japan, Murayama imports back in the day. We have an importer in the south of France who ships full containers of vintage bikes from Japan on a monthly basis. You buy what you see. No guarantees, no servicing, nothing. There’s a risk but prices are interesting. I got both in order to get one completely restored. Then I will sell what’s left of the other as a running project bike.
Hope the green godess went to someone who appreciates her as much as you did, i can’t imagine my matrix going anywhere for a while. Good luck with. The new dirty projects
More like £3.500 a piece (4000€). They are mechanically not bad. One has 7.500 miles and needs love and care. The other 23.000 miles, and needs all things electric to be refurbished.
