This is true but you are still required to renew your driving licence, for whatever reason it’s being advertised repeatedly lately on the wireless.
I've just made a phone call to a insurance company on the van as the current provider has increased their premium this year, it's a number for Confused or Compare as i'd both sites. First thing this morning as yesterday late afternoon i'd test them out before i forward my credit card details, but they don't answer the phones, so frustrating.!...maybe i'll stick with the existing outfit and avoid the headaches.
It runs out next year anyway, remember a licence only lasts 10 years then we all have to reapply (photo update)
There has been increases across the board, my van went up by £300 this year on a traders policy. Try a broker that does a call back I did it’s a ball ache to run through the details but you might make a significant saving.
It's only a £22 ish increase, but when you've many vehicles on the road it's very expensive for just a twelve months policy in my opinion.
If you are late renewing your driving licence, it is at the discretion of the DVLA as to whether they will impose a fine. However, if over two years have passed since your driving licence expired, you could face an order to retake your driving test. Interesting But at £21.50 there’s time to save up.
Which is why I opted for a traders insurance multiple vehicles you can drive on one policy as well as other peoples but it costs. From memory about £300 more than just the one van.
TBH it’s my belief that it should be a mandatory retest at 70, I’ve sat in when my Mother drove and she was a menace…..
I've been told you've to prove that you're a trader with documentation etc or you'd be in trouble.???????????//
Not at all for me, just told them my trade and bobs your Uncle or Aunty. Maybe there are restrictions but I’ve not ever been asked to prove. There are many different trades that drive vehicles that are/aren’t owned by them. I’m insured up to a 3.5 tonne and a 50k maximum value although there are some that use the brand of vehicle as a ceiling. My previous insurer wouldn’t allow exotic cars Ferraris and such, you can have motorcycles on the policy too but I declined that feature.
Your mother being a menace may have been true but having to re sit your driving test at 70 seems a bit ageist There’s plenty of life in old dogs, just look around!
