Ignorance isn’t always bliss, I stayed in a village B&B near Oundle for 5 years and the amount of cars that were stranded was quite surprising given all the warning signs around it.
We had this back in the day Snow/floods it was brilliant The lane flooded and water was up to the lights at one point just noticed the reg plate it must have been a sign of bikes to come
I think they are designed to keep out dust. I drove my Defender through a very flooded river on the one occasion I did the school run. I prioritised "getting the job done" as the kids stood up on their front seats and the footwells filled with water as it came over the bonnet and flowed in through the leaky front air vents. My air intake was on top of the wing, so properly underwater. What I realised as I powered through in first gear at high revs was the air intake has a chamber with a large drain hole at the bottom to let air intake water out into the engine space void. When I returned home with that "job done" swagger she noticed my headlamps were full of brown water, so I had to confess. The kids backed up my story with "Daddy nearly drowned us". That was my only ever school run .
it's water and dust Paul, admittedly full-submersion of engine still to be avoided if possible, and I can't speak for later namby-pamby versions but had first-hand experience on a diesel, riskier with petrol needing "sparks".
as title - anyone popped up Boxhill today? - hoping that all the re-work they did 5/6/7/8 can't remember years ago has prevented the Mole from flooding there.
I did drop the bike in the water just behind, as went through it, not round it. Luckily engine kept running as i needed power to walk it through and out to where pic was taken.
So it seems there is a bit more interest for tomorrow ? Is it worth trying to co-ordinate ? Would be great to actually meet some other members and even.. gasp... arrange a ride ? ;-)
Just driven down the A24 past Rykas and the road is now clear of river water. I will be there around 12pm on the 888. Then up to Newlands to give it my regards and apologies for not being there today.
I think judging by the suspiciously placed mud, Jerry dropped his as well but neither of us admitted it to each other until i did just now. it was a lovely water-cushioned, slow-motion action for me, and luckily camera in backpack survived.
? It's not like we're staying for tea. We get there. And then head for rykers It's more of a good RV. Than anything else. And the roads there and back are ace
True. Head to Petworth then A285 to Duncton, past my turning (Graffham) then up the hill and full gas through Upwaltham all the way to Halnaker, turn right after the Anglesey Arms and you will arrive at Goodwood Motor Circuit. Also be aware Midhurst Main Street (North Street A272) is closed.
