Just had the forks rebuilt at Monterey Peninsula Powersports, here in California. highly recommend them ... the service writer and the Ducati tech are awesome ... the only dealership I trust my baby to be worked on at. BTW, this service was covered under the Ever Red extended warranty i got with the Multistrada.
just back from a 1,000 mile round trip to Death Valley ... the right fork is leaking ... again. will contact the dealership this coming week to schedule another repair.
well, update on right fork leg leaking ... upon returning for a 4 day moto trip to Death valley, the right fork leg is weeping oil ... damn. time to go back to dealership.
Sorry to hear that John. You probably already recognise this but the fact that it's leaking again points to a possible issue with the integrity of the surface, or straightness, of the stanchion.
indeed. that, or the mechanic that did the original repair bollocks up installing the seals ... or the seals were defective. in any event, this will be covered under the extended warranty. i just don't like leaving my bike with a dealership, and having someone else work on her.
I'm confused John, you had the forks rebuilt at Monterey and praise them highly but then shortly after you did a 1000 miles and the right fork leaked again but you are now getting the repair and or work carried out by the dealer and are saying that the mechanic could have balled it up originally but surely Monterey were the last to touch the forks so should they not be held accountable not the dealer
They indeed are the last to have worked on the forks … and stop calling me Shirley, even if you are confused.
