V4 Annual Service

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Multirider75, Apr 6, 2023.

  1. Booked the PP in for its annual service yesterday. The price is £95, which is basically just a visual check, and includes the following. Ducati say it doesn’t need an oil/ filter change, but would you guys recommend getting that done anyway?

  2. I would personally as it is piece of mind when your trashing it , as the V4 needs .
Also how close are you to the 9000 miles as this is the advised milage (15000km)

  3. Yeah, drop the oil and change the filter yourself.

The way official dealers do servicing is very modular. I had a 911 and wanted the PDK (transmission) oil changing during a service. But because it was less than 6 years old they were refusing to do it!! They agreed to do it eventually but I had to push them…. A bit like pre packaged food menus in pub chains….

  4. Me too. Whilst engineering and oil tech has certainly improved the relatively small cost weighed against the value of your investment in the bike, to me, make this an easy descion. Might be tempted to DIY using recommend oil and OEM filter.

If you're intending selling before the end of the warranty then you can take the fleet car viewpoint that it'll be someone else's problem but again I wouldn't be doing that.

  5. wow, they are seriously charging you for the 'vehicle health check' mate. my local dealer just charged me half hour at £35 which included software updates, activating some stuff etc. cheapest 'service' ever. having only done 4k miles last year, reckon the oil change can wait though may do it myself as some say.

  6. That's what I was thinking. I'm nowhere near, at 4k miles, but the bike hasn't been used for a few months, so fresh oil can't be a bad thing.

  7. Yeah it does seem like a lot, just for a few visual health checks tbh. Will drop in there one day beforehand to have a chat with them.

  8. Had the second annual service last month on my V4S and I have had the oil changed each time, 1st time at 6K miles and then again at 13K miles. They asked if I wanted the oil changed each time and recommended that it would be a good idea. Saves having to go back in between annual services.

  9. Picked mine up in July and had the 1st service done in August. Since then I’ve done maybe 1500 miles.

They contacted me for a winter service but I’m thinking of leaving it until next winter.

    Am I mad?

  10. just get the basic one in July/Aug year after the last one ??

  11. Did you get caught out in the usual Ducati service light merry-go-round with them not being able to prevent the oil service indicator coming up on the dash at 15,000km, as the oil change was carried before reaching that?

  12. :) No I didn't - talking to the Technicians they have a gripe with the Ducati dealer / service software they use. Resetting the annual service light is in one section and resetting the oil service light is in another section that requires a different login ! Not very user friendly, both can be done at the same time, they just have to know the software and take the trouble to do it.

  13. My V4S is due it's "annual" service and it's covered 5328 miles, just been quoted £245 for the service and doing the oil, i'll do the oil and filter myself but i'm sure people have been quoted less than £100 for inspection service. Anyone else got any comments on the annual inspection service cost ?

  14. Ciudad Real, Spain 49 euros, revision updates and visual inspection, but without oil or filter

  15. As mentioned in post 5 above, £35 :upyeah:

  16. My 9000 miles service cost me exactly £225.28, completed as per the service schedule, the only thing I have had to do between services is top up the oil once at about 5000 miles and tighten the chain, I have done the same again as I'm now on 15,675 miles, I haven't had any issues at all, the bike has performed well and still does. Ducati recommend changing the chain & sprockets at 12,000 miles, I had mine checked by the dealer at just under 12K and it was fine, so I guess if you're not popping wheelies or riding on the limit all the time, the recommend service intervals are fine. I'll probably have them changed at the 18K service.

  17. Blokes spend £20-25 k on motorbikes and then moan about being charged a few hundred quid for servicing??:D

  18. Can I ask which dealer you used. Ducati Glasgow charged me £370

  19. Funny old world isn’t it. I guess most folk buy their bikes on PCP (the finance, not the drug. Or maybe they do?!).

  20. Millsport Motorcycles in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland. They're only official Ducati dealer in the province and I have found their after sales service simply excellent. Off course you pay dealer prices, but with the cost & quality of the bike I like to know everything is done right, which gives me piece of mind.
