An interesting thing happened yesterday. Went for a lovely ride out on the bike with the wife. Went from here through Oxford, up to Woodstock then a coffee in Stratford, lovely. Off around the Cotswolds then back to Binsey, North Oxford for an early supper in the Perch, top grub, highly recommended, then home, all good. My wife wears an Oura ring that collects all sorts of data about her, pulse, sleep patterns, heart rate variabilty and activity levels, it stores the data which can be shown on an app later. The remarkable stat from our ride is that as a passenger, the activity readings were as if she had walked 12 miles with medium activity levels. I have to assume the reading would be much higher for the rider, no wonder a days riding can be tiring.
I was out that way yesterday. we stopped at Gilks Cafe - with the roads round there you can see why it is a bit of a workout
plus a reassuring confirmation of how much your good lady must trust you when it comes to riding a motorbike.
My Mrs has been a pillion once in 23 years together, talk about back seat drivers. Sucked all the joy out of the motorcycling experience for me.
I wear a fitbit and usually record In the region of 10,000 steps a day walking the dog. On Saturday I was out on the Multistrada from 9am until 6pm, about 200 miles, girlfriend was looking after the hound, despite that I recorded over 25,000 steps... So yes, I concur with your findings
Lady Nasher hasn't ridden pillion for many years now, except a very short trip on my M1000 a couple of years ago. Many years ago, very late 80s Early 90's we used to do many miles two-up on my Z1000H. I remember one particular day trip to Brands Hatch from our home just North of Portsmouth where on the way home going round the M25 she got very heavy on my back. She was asleep round 1/2 the M25 and some of the A3 southbound.
After a ride I am usually left wondering how many fines and points I have incurred. My phone would be an accurate database of all my naughtiness
I wear a Fitbit and I do a workout while I'm driving I burn a lot of calories surprisingly! my heart rate is high Yet I was a passenger in my sons car recently and I spend a bit of time saying slow down no don't overtake blah blah don't drive so close get out of the gutters watch the pot holes Checked Fitbit and you would think I was doing yoga my heart rate was low PS multi ds1000is much better for pillion don't know about todays multi I could look at the scenery sat back against the top box chilling The SSIE was a different matter spent most the time watching the tarmac view hanging on butting heads Great times I miss them
My fitness tracker thinks I’m cycling when I’m motorcycling. Consequently, I’ve broken a few cycling world records on the Xdiavel
I hadnt ridden since Oct (weather and other duties meant I was much later back on road). I went out for 2hrs last Sat. I felt like I'd been beaten up. My groin muscles omg. My forearms, hands, shoulders all felt it. I was knackered. So, it obviously is a work out. Even bumbling around like a rookie. Lesson: do some stretches and warm ups if youve been off the bike for some time.
