Fitted some new bits, all went very well for a change! RAM mount and powered lead from the OEM satnav power socket for my Tom Tom Rider 2 Evotech radiator and oil cooler guards SW-Motec Evo quick detach tank bag. Ducati matt black tank pad R&G aero crash bungs Fused Optimate lead straight to the battery. Palmer cylinder head cover protector plate 7X7 inch number plate with silver foil tape backing ready for the Termi! First service and fitting of the full Termi system is this Saturday at Ducati Aylesbury....can't wait!
How does that satnav mount work in practice? Can you still see the speedo OK and does it interfere with the tankbag when on full lock? It appears not on both cases. Any chance of a photo from the rider's eye view?
You might want to think about fitting one of these as well Engine guard for Ducati Multistrada 1200 - Engine guard - Protection - Vehicle equipment | Touratech Ltd
It looks as if it's mounted off one of the handlebar clamp screws and if so then I've mounted mine in exactly the same way and it blocks the riders view of the gear indicator and clock but it doesn't foul the tankbag. You can angle it so you get a view of the clock but then it's not in the best position to view the satnav.
I have many of the same parts, I went for the EVO tech crash bars, they are nice and round. Easy to fit too. Just put the bar through the frame of the bike.
The RAM mount is on the forward left handlebar clamp, and there's enough adjustment (just) for the satnav to miss the tank bag on full lock, whilst still being able to see the all the clocks. Picture below taken with the camera where my head would be riding. Crash bungs very easy to fit. Just use the new engine mount/crash bung bar to drift the OEM engine mount long bolt out. The instructions didn't give the R&G inner nuts (engine mount) torque settings, so I had to find them in the on-line draft OEM manual. Rad guard just bolts onto the existing rad to fairing brackets (on the outside). Foam sticky tape goes inside the cover to cushion it from vibration. Oil cooler cover just clips over the top of the cooler and is cable tied to the lower cooler mount. Again adhesive foam strips inside. Both jobs are very easy, and the nose cone comes off very easily too with just a few allen bolts. Don't forget to unplug the air intake temp sensor before pulling the nose cone down and out. Also leave the two allen bolts in place on the underside of the nose cone, as these hold both sides of the cowling together. I'll wait until my full Termi is fitted on Saturday in case the downpipe curve is different. I may not get one though, as I have no intention of going off road. See above picture. Did you use the front left clamp bolt?
I'll not be home for a couple of days to check but from memory I used the front left hand bolt after trying rear left hand and it fouled my tank bag slightly. I've only ever had one bike before that had a gear position indicator so I'm not missing it though being able to see the clock might be handy at times. I'm possibly going to change it and drill a hole through the upper cross piece in front of the screen then bolt through there but that's a bit close to vandalism so I'm not convinced yet that it's the best idea. The only slight problem for me is that 90% of my miles on the bike are when I'm away on holiday when I want the satnav but that's when I want my tankbag to store my smokes, phone and emergency can of beer.
I like the bag, what specific model is that please ? The one I am looking at says 7ltr but looking at the picture of it on your bike it seems bigger ? - Edit. never mind Ive found it
I've used a ram bolt mounted front left and it worked ok with and without a my tank bag fitted. But, the Navihalter bracket is a far superior fixing and mounts in a much safer position for keeping you eyes on the road. About £80 more expensive but worth it from a safety point of view IMHO.
thanks. Do you think In the event of the bike going over at a standstill it woud protect the bike from touching down
I don't know without laying the bike on its side. The bungs stick out further than the side fairings though. I doubt they'd do much apart from snap off in a crash, but look like they'd protect the fairing if just dropped at stand still.
First service done and Termi race system and air filter fitted with ECU up-flash. Running it with the baffle removed, and now sounds like a Ducati instead of a Hoover, and feels much stronger than before! Fuelling is spot on, no glitches or stutter even with big handfuls from low revs (purely for test purposes Sets car alarms off as you ride by ....and the panniers still fit perfectly!
I know that the full Termignoni system is supposed to toast number plates a bit but I didn't know they did that much damage!
Givi sporty screen added for those non-touring Summer weeks. Also getting a tinted sporty MRA screen to what it's like.
Cheers! Still ride the ZRX as I've had it from new and modified over the years to get it just how I want it. It's a 152bhp rear wheel monster with more modern running gear so it handles well. I've done a track day at Spa on it, and here we are at Mallory around Gerrards and also at Jerez I bought the Multi to replace my aging Triumph Sprint for touring, but it turns out to be a much better all rounder than the ZRX!
