Hi Folk, Can anyone recommend a suitable electronic ignition system for my 1980 Mhr rep. It was last serviced approx 18 mths back but could not get it started a week after it was returned, tried many times since and even considered selling her but I can not bring myself to let go. Had no joy from service provider and i have also been out of service due to my health & subsequent treatment. Anyhow at the time a week after bike was returned drained fuel, carbs and replaced plugs it fired up but on a short run to fuel station it would not pull or tick over smoothly since then no joy. I hope to obtain a good electronic ignition system and take her to a local mechanic to install and check out. So if anyone can recommend a good quality electronic system suitable for my bike. Not sure if I need to replace the site bevel glass cover on rear cylinder head for original solid type when electronic ignition is fitted ? Cheers Paul rwg
I took a look at my forty year old coils and decided it might be time for an upgrade. I bought a new electronic ignition system from Mdina. https://www.mdinaitalia.co.uk/bevel-replacement-ignition-systems.html They did not have coils so have waited six months to find an alternative at https://www.dimarino.co.uk/ Hoping to be back on the road soon for the Isle of Man in August.
Yeah, Electronic Sachse, I fitted one of these to the Darmah and they work a treat. It comes with a choice of curves & I bought a couple of Dyna Mini coils from the same place. Same as Paul, the cables coming from the original pick ups were totally shot & as I was doing a complete rewire anyway it just made sense to replace the lot. https://www.elektronik-sachse.de/sh...ion-zdg-3-23-for-ducati-beveldrive-bosch.html The other system often mentioned and recommended is a Silent Hektik that is programmable and struck as a little too complex for me. Racers seem to like it. https://www.silent-hektik.de/Duc_900SS.htm
Just had a call and she is running sweet as a nut. Need to get a hundred miles done then new oil and filter.
Good news, out on bike Kirkcudbright nice day but think it’s going to get wet Not on Duc, using everyday bike ?
Lovely jubbly - initially even without the carbs set up properly the 'ol Darmah fired up pretty much on the button & I put that down to the new ignition. Enjoy.
No “button” for me, more try and remember the kick start technique without looking like a total numpty
So the MHR may have all the glamour.... but neither a button or a comfortable riding position.... Just make sure you tickle the carbs & give the accelerator pumps a couple of squirts and with that ignition it'll fire up first prod.
