  1. There’s nothing as much fun as rummaging through your neighbours skip seeing if there is anything of value, tends to be tat I’ve found.:)

  2. Two new tyres on the van this morning from ATS, then jacked the vehicle up to find what the problem's with the front end brakes as i'm getting unusual noises at the minute, all look healthy so no idea at this stage.

  3. Each to their own!

  4. Met @mike willis before watching the Chelsea game.

Meeting Mike has been the more enjoyable of the 2 experiences so far…

  5. Had a great morning ride in glorious sunshine around the Ards Peninsula, a perfect way to start the day.

  9. Seems I have injector leak on my R55. Hopefully can just tighten them up, but perhaps this problem will need new seals. Fingers (legs & arms) crossed.

  10. Went to the Grand National.

Not one winning bet, eased by the excess amount of beverages consumed.

  11. Betting's a mugs game all day long, the only people that win are the house in my opinion, but hey you can't take it with you so why not every now and then let it all hang out.

  13. I like many attend the National for much more than the betting. Paying, £7.50 for a pint in a plastic cup, or £40 for a jug of Pimms is far more muggy than chucking a tenner on one of ten horses to maybe return a few quid. But I did both, so a double mug for sure :D

The couple we were with came with a grand or so expecting that to be their cost of the day - £500 for hotel, booze, taxis etc, £500 for betting. Using their £500 pre-set betting budget, they bet each way all day, leaving them about a grand, which they put on the main race for a win and returned nine grand.

  14. I certainly wasn't dismissing the day out with friends for one minute there, it sounds like your friend knows a little about gambling then, but i've only seen flat broke people on my travels that attend these places. A game of snakes and ladders comes to mind.

  15. I agree, wholeheartedly, but never tend to blanket dismiss anything in life. If folk are happy standing in bookies with their little stubby pencils, so be it.

My friend knows nothing about gambling, but he does know about his limitations - went with £x and be prepared for that to disappear as an expense. Through pure luck, he did really well and whilst we are now sat hat ome trying to recover, they've gone to York for the day to treat themselves.

  16. I’m about evens on the winners and losers on the gambling front, but the losers have lost everything and then some.

The winners haven’t massively won in a life changing way though.

The bank always comes out top in the long run as they’re setting the odds.

  17. I was working away from home many moons ago with a great bunch of lads, one in particular said in a lifetime's of gambling it levels itself out:eek:, that tells you the mindset & attitude from these folk.

  18. No doubt he'll treat you folks on another occasion as you're his lucky charm that day.
